| Rashomon02-28-06, 09:42 AM | I just thought of a human Ranger 1 / Fighter 2 / Warmind 7 who takes Wild Talent at level 3 to qualify for Warmind, then has Psychic Reformation manifested on him to get rid of it after getting Warmind 1, since Warmind meets its own PP prereqs. The problem is what comes after that. Warmind's powers known is tiny, though it's a big jump over nonpsionic characters, and it has WAY more PP than psychic warrior. He gets a lot of nifty melee-related powers and a good Ref/Will save. He also has a full BAB and 7 feats, none of which are tied up in prereqs. This sounds like a great psionic fighter type, except heavy on the fighter. So where should I take him? I'd certainly like to see more powers known, but I'd like to retain the martial focus. Your help is always appreciated. |

That smells of illegalness. You're also not meeting the Knowledge(Psionics) requirement. |

Well kick my mom in the face, I reread Warmind and it does say Knowledge (psionics) 8 ranks, and not 2 ranks as I believed. In that case, replace Warmind 6 and 7 with Psychic Warrior 1 and 2 and take them before Warmind. More feats, more powers, 1 less BAB, and no need for Wild Talent. Also, the manipulation would have been legal anyway. Wild Talent gives you a reserve of 1 PP, Warmind adds to that. Remove the Wild Talent and you still have 2 PP from Warmind, since it isn't an explicit requirement. I do see where you're coming from about the wonkiness of having a class meet its own requirements, but if you think of it as just subtracting 1 from the PP reserve, it works. Still, this only goes to show I should RTFRB more closely. And here I was, thinking I'd done something worth showing off. Meh. |

Its like saying Roy, a Fighter 4 (yes, an OotS reference), can take Exotic Weapon Master (Broken Greatsword) because EWM will give him the 5th BAB he needs to get in. It just doesn't work like that. |
