| SandisTheGOld07-20-04, 09:33 AM | So, without getting into the un-necessary specifics of the battle, I need to make a 12th level character that will beat all the other 12th level characters. All casters have been banned. The only useable books are 3.5 core and complete warrior. I have determined that If nobody can hit me, I can't lose. Therefore: Stone giant 4 (this will net me 13 ac) Monk 2 (for wis to ac and evasion to avoid dragons breath) ????? paladin 4? some prestige class? also what gear should I get (88000) Note: I cant pay for spells to be cast on me feats? etc? stats? (32 pb) +3 (lvl 12) str: ....8 .....(+16) dex: ..16 ....(+4) ...........(10p) con: ...9 .....(+8) .(+1) ..(1p) int: ....13 .......................(5p) (for combat expertise) wis: ...18.... (+2)..(+2) ..(16p) cha: ...8 Anything else you can think of? -Sandis |
| KDowns8607-20-04, 10:54 AM | As long as every one else is going on the melee weapon path i would suggest just beefing up your grapple checks and wrestlin em' It stops all the big hitting melee weapons cause you cant use em in a grapple, two weapon fighters can only use one light weapon at a -4 penalty. And if you pin em' they cant do anything. if they cant swing, they cant hit you either. Plus if someone grapples you your AC doesnt matter any more. |
| SandisTheGOld07-20-04, 11:23 AM | see, the thing is, theyre not. And because I traded ideas with someone else, I know that I'd lose against him in a grapple fest. Everyone else, I can probably grapple into the ground, but not a half-dragon minotaur. So, I can probably expect him to hit me too, if I cant get my AC above say, 60 or 65. so... right now my ac looks like this: 5 from dex -1 size +11 natural armor from stone giant +6 wis +~16 ish if i go straight monk from improved combat expertise +1 monk +3 for fightind defensivly with 5 ranks of tumble with the gear i'm considering: monks belt = +1 13000 bracers of armor +5 or 6 25000/36000 +2 amulet of wis +1 4000 +2 gloves of dex +1 4000 ring of deflection +1 2000 sums to about 48000/59000 for a grand total of an ac of +47/48 = 60/61 with at least a +6 bonus to hit left over from strength and other stuffs is there anything else I can do? |
| Himosan07-20-04, 11:25 AM | Stone Giant 4 is not 3.5 core. If you are fighting multiple people at the same time dont play a grappler. If you dont want people to hit you, use Dust of Disappearance and/or a Tower Shield. |
| SandisTheGOld07-20-04, 11:34 AM | right, but stone giant has a level adjustment of four. so, its like taking 4 levels of stone giant. -Sandis |
| KDowns8607-20-04, 11:57 AM | increase your dex higher so your touch ac is improved even without casters you should improve your touch ac for either items, trip, or grapple touch attacks. Get a dex improving item instead of +5 bracers of armor If you know of a terrain you can use to your advantage get cloak of arachnidia and/or something to allow you to fly then only ranged attacks can get you and then you dont have to worry about grappling either. |
| Himosan07-20-04, 11:57 AM | It also has 14 Hit Dice, you CANT play it. |
| SandisTheGOld07-20-04, 12:14 PM | himosan crap, I knew I should have paid more attention to the rules, however, this probably really quashes the minotaur half dragon plan too. Ok, so, what should i replace the base creature with? KDowns86 with improved expertise my dodge bonus is through the roof. I'm not all that woried about touch attacks. Also, I get to bring in two maps which I can make advantageous to my character at will. I was thinking about making one a map with a "wall of blocks everything but projectiles between the two characters" and then having it be so you cant run away. Ideas for the second map? -sandis |

| ShadowCrown07-20-04, 04:52 PM | Half-ogre. Possibly with mineral warrior too, on a human base. But honestly, if you're in a melee arena battle, there's only one way to go. Frenzied berserker. I mean, /you can't die./ Literally. And at level five, improved power attack makes you the heaviest non-hulking-hurler hitter in the game. Frenzied berserker is radically overpowered in my opinion, and the only way they've balanced it is by making you a threat to your comrades. You have no comrades. Go half-ogre frenzied berserker, and make sure you have the fifth level. However, if you're dedicated to this high-AC concept, a few comments. How are you getting 16 AC from improved expertise? It maxes at BAB, right? so that's more like +10. And there's no way you're getting 11 natural armor; as himosan commented, you won't be playing a stone giant. I think half-ogre plus mineral warrior is 5-ish, but I have no books on me at the moment. So really you're looking at under 50 AC, and you won't be able to hit much because in addition to losing all your BAB to impr expertise, you're losing another few points from fighting defensively. Which basically means your standard fighter type with a minimum 25 AC is just as hard for you to hit as it is for him to hit you, and he's probably hitting harder. |
| SandisTheGOld07-20-04, 05:03 PM | i dont think that half ogre is core... feel free to prove me wrong and show me the page its written on. Right now I'm thinking about going githzerai +6dex, +2 wis, +4 ac while concious... for LA of 2 |
| Nick_Nameless07-20-04, 05:10 PM | just MHO. I have posted this build before, and really for this type of mano-e-mano type of situation. Human Barbarian 1-2 / Fighter 1-10 Feats: Human - Power Attack L1 - Extra Rage L3 - Extended Rage F1 - Combat Reflexes F2 - Cleave L6 - Close Quarters Fighting F4 - Improved Bull Rush F6 - Improved Sunder L9 - Shock Trooper F8 - Combat Brute F10 Weapon Focus Greatclub L12 - Three Mountain Style Tactics: Sunder anyone weapon you can. If someone tries to grapple you, you have close quarters fighting and should win any grapple check easily. You could trade Shoch Trooper for Improved Initiative, but the power attack from AC instead of from BAB is way cool. Use a darkwood club with adamantite spikes. You'll be sundering and nauseating like a madman. Also, if it's going to be one big scrum, you couls drop the extra rage feat (because you can only do it once per encounter anyways) and still pick up improved initiative. Lastly, you could go half-ogre with this build, but it would cost you 2 feats. Again, I would suggest Extra Rage and Shock Trooper. |
| AviLazar07-20-04, 08:05 PM | Take items that help displace you (cloak of displacement). Take items that make you faster. While it takes longer to kill someone, using things like spring attacking monks is great. You run in, attack, run out and even if they take double moves they shouldnt be able to reach you. If they happen to reach you, then you have good ac and miss chance. -A |
| carnivore07-20-04, 09:43 PM | my suggestion is look up "multi headed" template. then when you find it , look at the "Lernaen" aspect of it. then pick anything like "Anthromprphic Baleen whale" add feral template(+1LA),2 headed lernaen (+4LA),and then pick some class you like. you start with i think 5HD(3 baleen whale,2 extra head) feral gives nice abilities....fast heal ,improved grab,pounce..etc lernaen means you are IMMUNE to ALL physical damage to your body!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the only way to kill you is through spls(disentigrate, finger of death, slay living are the only spls that do it), or cutting off both of your heads within 1d4 rounds of each other. since there are no spl casters you dont have to worry about those spls. get some armor or better yet Bracers of armor with Heavy fortification on them that way you dont have to worry about vorpal weapons. next get a retribution amulet(BoED)56000gp this way any time someone hits you they take 1/2 damage if they hit your body(not including your head) and you take nothing.if they hit your head you still take 1/2 damage and they take the other 1/2. you have fast healing 3 so even if they hit your head it heals quickly,if they remove only one head 2 more heads grow right back in 1d4 rounds(max heads is 2 times original # of heads). remember any hits to the body do nothing . hows that? |
| carnivore07-20-04, 09:54 PM | sorry ignore the retribution amulet as it pushes you over your gp allowance. |
| SandisTheGOld07-20-04, 10:31 PM | looks great... except only books are 3.5 core and complete warrior. this was in the first post. -sandis |
| carnivore07-20-04, 10:37 PM | sorry wasnt paying attention |
| Aluroon07-23-04, 04:08 PM | Well if you can convence someone to let you go half ogre, do this... Barbarion1/Fighter7/Hulking hurler3 Str=18 base+6 racial+2 level+6 Belt of giant str+4 rage Bost your con to, so your rage lasts a number of rounds. Now take Ranged power attack, and Overburdened Heave, to throw rocks weighing 2400 pounds at the other people. You throw 3 a round, and take power attacks on each rock. I dont know what 2400 pounds does, but the odds are that you'll do somewhere between 100-200 damage per round, so you'll kill everything, unless you get gang banged by everyone else when they relize what your doing. AC doesnt really mater, because if they get near you, you grapple, and with a str of 36, + large size+ bab11, you'll win every time, no mater what your fighting. Aluroon Note: This is not perfect, there are beter builds then this, however its the best I can do in 15 minutes Note: If you want to be real evil, find an item that boosts your size (boots of enlarge) to throw even bigger rocks, get a beter grapple, and have a gods str Note: There is a prestige class in the mini's handbook that grants +2 str per level. If you want you can swich some fighter levels for it for even bigger rocks, although as it is your killing just fine. |
