Thelon Fairblade 05-28-04, 08:14 AM	Looking to make a 12th level character who can wade into battle (whether wise or not) against all manner of opponents, and come out the other side still functional. "Broken, bruised, and battered, of course, but still up and moving..." is the character concept, in one sentence. My thought is some kind of DR (Barbarian? Adamantine Armor? Dwarven Defender?) plus a Fast Healer trait or Regeneration of some kind. Whether from an item, race, class, or spell. [Preferably not a Cleric or Druid, though, as the last 2 characters were a cleric and a druid...] Character has 84 pts for stat distribution, and 66,000 gold for items. The environment is Planescape, so interplanar races/classes/etc. are legal. Psionics are legal (caveat, "Psionics Are Different" is in effect). Dragonlance and Athas are not reachable through the planes, and are therefore off-limits (no Dragonspawn, Draconians, or Muls). Exalted, while interesting, is not viable in the player group this character will adventure with. (For that matter, skip any LG paladin-types, too.) If possible, try to keep the number of classes (PrC or Core) to 4 or less. ECL races are okay, but the character must have *some* out-of-combat value as well. One thought I was toying with was a Half-Iron-Golem Half-orc Barbarian, with Karmic Strike.
Funny Slaughter 05-28-04, 08:26 AM	how do you figure the ECL for an half-golem? i would think about feral and mineral warrior, eventually in concjuntion with more HD (anthromorphic maybe, or some race) to get better fast healing etc. gs Funny

ZenRanger 05-28-04, 12:43 PM	I'd take the Feral (Savage Species) and/or the Mineral Warrior templates. They're both +1 LA, and well worth it. You get NA, DR, Fast Healing, and some other goodies. Try a Feral Human Mineral Warrior then go Barbairian/Frenzied Beserker with maybe a few fighter levels (up to 4) for the extra feats if you want them.

Mineral Warrior is Underdark, right? Frenzied Berserker doesn't advance DR, does it? It just gives the super-nasty mega Power Attack, right?

Yes, it's well worth it. Not sure on this one, but I believe so. Yes, FB eventually doubles your Power Attack output.

Read closely, only the special attacks say racial HD in savage species. Qualities just says HD, so you would still get those qualities, regardless of racial HD.

Impeesa 05-29-04, 03:55 AM	4th level of Frenzied Berserker gets you Deathless Frenzy - so long as you're in frenzy, you can ignore damage, no matter how far into the negatives you go. Just get a good cleric who can start slapping on Heals when you start to run low on enemies. :) --Impeesa--

(understand if OGL prevents this). No luck finding a copy of Savage Species at the bookstore. Have to order it online I suppose.
