12th level Warmage for Undead Filled Campaign: Help! [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-26-05, 09:40 AM Hey, i joined a 12th level PbP campaign where the DM is making heavy use of the Libris Mortis, and I'm playing a warmage. However, I realized that I have no idea how to play higher levels (i'm used to levels 1-5) and i am astounded by the things I can do.

Specifically, I need help with the feats. Level 1 Should be PBShot and Precise shot, and I know I want to take Empower spell at 3 to use my 6th level spell slots for 18d6 orbs. I'm considering taking Extra Spell at 12th for maybe Break Enchantment, but how good is that idea? And what should be my other feat?

I also could use some help with what I should do in battle. The warmage has a rediculous number of options of how to blast...which spells are the best in which situations?

11-26-05, 11:08 AM Check out the Warmage Build Guide in my sig. That should help you some with your feats and whatnot. In general I would focus on non-SR spells like the Orbs against undead. Transdimensional Spell is also probably a good feat in this particular game since so many undead are incorporial.

What do your stats look like & what is the rest of the party like?

11-26-05, 02:40 PM That will handle single targets, but transdimensional spell will give you a lot more flexibility in what targets you affect, and where.

11-26-05, 09:30 PM Maybe consider arcane disciple(will need high wis) to nab domains with undead-destroying spells? I am not sure if extra spell will allow you to pick spells not on your spell list, but if your dm gives the green light, what the heck....And do note I am not trying to start another extra spell debate here, so please.......

11-26-05, 11:31 PM Warmage/Sacred Exorcist/Elemental Savant/Silver Pyromancer

You'll need to use Extra Spell or Arcane Disciple (Good Domain) in order to qualify for Sacred Exorcist. Sacred Exorcist provides Turning. Elemental Savant should turn all elemental spells into fire spells. Silver Pyromancer turns all fire damage into sacred damage. Silver Pyromancer also has a special class feature that deals damage to undead by using a Turning attempt.
