| carnivore10-16-04, 02:47 PM | since i cant seem to change the title i just started a new thread: the idea revolves around maximizing the touch attacks and palm throw of the master thrower and the extra ricochet attack of the skiprock. hows this--anthropomorphic squid (3HD + 17lvls to get BAB minimum +16) gets 11 attacks or with multiweapon attack, improved multiweapon attack, greater multiweapon attack, rapid shot, improved rapid shot something like this: BAB +16 primary hand 4 attacks each palm throws with skiprocks(ricochets) = 16 attacks primary hand rapid shot with palm throw and ricochet = 4 attacks haste adds 1 attack with palm throw and ricochet = 4 attacks 10 offhands with 3 attacks each = 30 x palm throws = 60 x each ricocheting = 120 total 144 attacks tell me am i wrong about this,.......picture this...set this guy on a pile of skip rocks .i would like to use manyshot but it does not work with thrown objects, only arrows what do you think ,world record maybe :ayyyy!: |
| catharz10-16-04, 03:46 PM | Hope you never meet a guy with Infinite Deflection :P Anyway, looks cool. You could probably get some mileage out of Insectile, Feral, and Grallion's Blessing, but that might be overboard. |
| carnivore10-16-04, 03:49 PM | i was under the impression that girallons blessing gave you extra arms but they could not be used to attack with but helped only with grapple checks  insectile is a good idea as you get some extra arms, i will check on it later, i dont have any books with me now ;) |
| Tempest Stormwind10-16-04, 03:52 PM | You posted this in your other build thread, 36 attacks per round. My last comment on that holds: 144 attacks per round is why they capped base attack bonus in epic play. Plus, these all rely on the ricochet -- you can't focus all your attacks on one creature. |
| Blade271810-16-04, 03:53 PM | Fang of Lloth might be useful here. Get 4 extra arms! |
| carnivore10-16-04, 04:17 PM | yes i can only focus 77 attacks on one creature......... :weep: hmmmm....wait a minute , thats quite a few..hmmmm even if i did 2 points of damage each(which is very easy to do) thats 144 points of damage in one round ....with rocks. i guess sticks and stones do break bones....well stones sure do :D also this build works within the framework of the number of attacks that can legally be taken by the RAW! :D |
| catharz10-16-04, 04:55 PM | i was under the impression that girallons blessing gave you extra arms but they could not be used to attack with but helped only with grapple checks  Well, the arms don't grant any extra attacks, but Multiweapon fighting sure does! |
| carnivore10-16-04, 05:10 PM | i dont have any books here now , IIRC you get 2 arms at X caster lvl and at X + caster lvl you get 4 extra arms ....is this correct? also does anyone know how many extra arms the insectile template gives? for each extra arm you get 4 extra attacks.....so if you added 6 extra arms to a anthropomorphic squid you could get 24 extra attacks on top of the 144 total 168 attacks :OMG! |
| carnivore10-16-04, 05:12 PM | sorry blade2718 i completely forgot about the fang of loth, will it work with this and can you end with at least a BAB of +16? |
| RadicalTaoist10-16-04, 05:40 PM | LOL, I can see this build in a party with an artificer who's willing to make all those rocks flaming, shocking, and wounding  |
| Blade271810-16-04, 08:39 PM | sorry blade2718 i completely forgot about the fang of loth, will it work with this and can you end with at least a BAB of +16?It would need a slightly more Roguish influence, in terms of skills, but you could probably pull it off. Let me get back to you on that one. |
| lgw10-16-04, 10:21 PM | biggest issue: dr ;-) but if you could get in some rouge with sneak, do backstab it a bit (ranged = no flank, so be creativ), its really getting tough. i mean, on so many rolls you'll score some 5-5-5-6-6... |
| filwinn10-17-04, 04:35 AM | ah well on those heights, throw in Precise Shot from the EPH were you reroll all your 1 on SA damage ...party ! |
| Snicker-Snack10-17-04, 05:32 AM | Very nice, but i'd like to remind you a detail that everyone seems to forget: When you turn a creature withy more then two limbs into an Antropomorphic animal, two of them become feet. Also, a giant squid has 11 attacks, but one of them is bite (and i don't think it can throw skiprocks with the mouth :)). So this rock thrower "only" has 8 arms. |
| simen_8810-17-04, 05:41 AM | Expect to find yourself stunned, paralyzed, held and other stuff pretty often. No DM wants to roll 163 extra attacks each round. But a very cool concept. |
| darczero10-17-04, 06:25 AM | It's reasons like this that I miss the sword of sharpness. Like someone (wasn't really paying that much attention) said, Infinite Deflection. Toss in Reflect Arrows while you're at it. Could the same build be accomplished using something bigger, say a giant (stone for example)? The "Halfling Skiprock" could be enlarged to be the "Stone Giant Skiprock," although they'd probably call it something like the "Manyman Crusher" (just came up with that one off the top of my head). While we're at it, let's make it an Insectile stone giant, for those extra arms. Name him Avalanche. |
| darczero10-17-04, 06:31 AM | Sorry for the double post, but I forgot something... Being a Stone Giant, my new creation Avalanche would also qualify for Hulking Hurler. With his six arms, and the multiweapon feats to back them up, that's three Two-Handed hurls per round. Or, he still has the option of throwing the full barrage. |
| lostone10-17-04, 09:49 AM | Infinite deflection would just stop this guy in his tracks. How about focusing on a melee build and maxing the attacks? Or is there some way to make the rocks harder to deflect, such as making them invisible, brilliant energy or something like that? |
| Caelic10-17-04, 10:24 AM | Well, he'd also have to throw fast, since he suffocates when he's out of water. Details, details! :) |
| Qaetar10-17-04, 11:04 AM | Multi-Headed gives Perfect Multi Weapon Fighting, IIRC. More SS imbalance. |
| carnivore10-17-04, 01:54 PM | what would really be fun is if you could find a way to make halflings themselves be exotic weapons, then use the "halfling hurler" found here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=183256 and hurl lots of halflings :D |
| Tempest Stormwind10-17-04, 02:15 PM | what would really be fun is if you could find a way to make halflings themselves be exotic weapons, then use the "halfling hurler" found here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=183256 and hurl lots of halflings :D Races of Stone has a feat like that in it, much to my surprise. Fling Ally. Doesn't quite work the way you'd like (as it takes a move action to heft, and a standard to throw), but the spirit is there! |
| Vanigo10-17-04, 03:48 PM | Two things: Girallon's blessing specifically states that it doesn't give you any extra attacks. You'll need Quickdraw. Otherwise, it's a move action to draw a new skiprock, and that simply will not do. |
| Snicker-Snack10-17-04, 06:35 PM | You'll need Quickdraw. Otherwise, it's a move action to draw a new skiprock, and that simply will not do. The build is going to have levels of Master Thrower, they give Quick Draw for free at first, IIRC. |
| Blade271810-17-04, 11:01 PM | It wouldn't be too difficult to do work it in, if it weren't for the fact that the Fang doesn't get the arms we're looking for until level 9. Probably looking at...Ranger 2/Fighter 2/Rogue 2/Master Thower 5/Fang of Lloth 9, as a very rough build. Surprisingly, it only requires BAB +5 and Use Magic Device 10. If you drop a Rogue level and take another level in FoL, you'll be able to boost your land and climb speeds by 20 when using your extra arms, incidentally. Nice to be able to run away from giants in case the stuff hits the fan. |
