I want to get two more caster levels to get access to 5th level spells, but how should I go about it to maximize my potential in a game filled with characters who are already much more powerful then me?

post your feats and spell selection also. I've just hit lvl 13 as a Duskblade and have not had any problems with it yet. Most of the party thinks i'm overpowered and i haven't even started with the fun of multichanneling spells yet. It also might be the way that your game is run compared to the one that i'm in.

maybe more info would help? I am straight 15th level duskblade, warforged. I am a melee fighter useing two longswords. Feats are power attack, two weapon fight, improved two weapon fight, oversized two weapon fight, close quarters combat, combat focus, combat vigor, one other combat form feat that I cant remember the name of. I dont have races of ebberon(spelling?) are there any cool presitge classes in there for warforged that might fit my guy?

also we are playing in midnight and I have the steel blooded heroic path which gave me weapon focus, greater weapon focus, weapon specialization, and greater weapon specialization. I use V. touch with multi channel to good effect. My DM let me add the "repair damage" spells to my spell list as well. I am a well rounded character. I am not complaining about him, just looking for ideas on where to go from here.

if your evil i would consider ur-priest if it is fitting since your quick cast doesn't have to be of your Duskblade spells. Perhaps Chameleon if you qualify for it to give you more deversity. Maybe Warlock or Artificer to give you UMD to get more diversity out of what you can do. Or those last couple of levels could be used on one of the classes from the Tome of Battle and use the stnaces and Manuvers that could compliment your play style.

Edit to add: Crusader if it fits your character would likely be the best choice for stamina in combat. Just use the Damage pool to delay the damage and soak it up with the temp HP from Vamp. Touch and then use one of the healing manuvers to keep you hp full when you do take damage.

great point about crusader. I dont have access to the book with Chameleon in it, but I would wager I dont meet the requirements. what do you mean by "UMD"? I also dont know anything about artificer.

Chameleon has some skills and Human or Dop. and Able learner Feat, must be taken at 1st lvl. And UMD is short for Use Magic Device skill. I think I'm going to go Crusader after lvl 17 also when i get there. But in my game we were promiced to fight the Tarasque since none of us have fought it before.

I found a good path to take. I will take two levels of Sword sage, then go into the martial adept PC that gives full BaB with 8 out of 10 caster levels. (cant remember the name of it) It gives some cool stuff that blends well with the duskblades features.

You would really only need 1 level of Swordsage to get into your Jade Phoenix Mage PrC. Heck Warblade would be better for the extra hitpoints it gives but Swordsage gives you tons more skills and +2 reflex. Yeah on second thought just take Swordsage. Unless you want that extra AC from the 2nd level Swordsage I wouldn't take more than 1 level and then jump into JPM to keep your arcane caster increases going.

Yes you are very powerful with those extra feats of yours and the Repair Spells on your spell list. With the Swordsage added in you are going to have an initiator level of 8 with 1 level of Swordsage giving you more power. When you take JPM grab the Devoted Spirit manuevers for the ability to help heal you and your party. Man you are going to be pretty uber in combat with this combo.

*thinks* what is a duskblade doing wandering around without arcane strike?

that seems like blasphemy

just my 2 cents

note to self get arcane strike for 12th level feat. and look for ring of wizardry when we get to next big city.

hehe, yeah arcane strike is nice and I will take it at 18th level, but honestly I havent needed it. I find myself using all my spells channeling them and quickening them. I will take the second level of sword sage for the AC bouns and for the 2nd stance I would be granted. Also becuase it will allow me to learn a 5th level manuver. I also have a covenant item out of the midnight rules that is alittle souped that helped me with two bonus feats, an extra +2 to STR, and some other neat little things.

actually i think for duskblade rather than getting arcane strike work toward jade Phoenex mage from ToB. the chaneling ability there is even better and doesn't cos a feat. You have to take 1 lvl of an initiator class to get it without burning precious feats but i think i works well. Plus you get the phoenex stances if you continue beyond 1st lvl int jpm. I'm prety sure this is what i'm going to do as long as dm allow the jpm in the game with some tweakes, just changeing the focus from defeat evil to defeat chaos since it fits my character much better.
