I assume he will be sensible and not give a fighter a staff of life or something. - Prestige classes must be completed. Once you start them, you can't take any other prestige classes till the current one is finished. - No setting-specific material. I get the feeling 3.0 is heavily frowned-upon as well. - As this is a PBP campaign, DM does the actual combat minutiae - players just narrate tactics, DM executes. In addition, the campaign is going to be heavily anti-giants. All the bases seem to have been covered (except the skillmonkey and spotting columns could probably use some reinforcing) so I'm free to go wild. Other concerns addressed were that a mobile, hard-hitting combatant would be useful, as would another divine caster for healing /etc. With these in mind, I have a bunch of character ideas: Human Wizard 5 / Warblade 1 / Jade Phoenix Mage 10 - amusingly enough, this guy comes out at 13 BAB, 13 caster level (level 6 spells), and 13 initiator level, with more than half his maneuvers coming from the Desert Wind and Devoted Spirit disciplines... using the warblade's recovery system. Level 7 spells means he has access to the higher end of arcane buffs, and martial maneuvers mean that he is a nasty contender even without his magic. Another idea is the recently-noted Major Devil Bloodline Hellfire Warlock, using an Eldritch Glaive and binding Naberius to shrug off the Con damage. It doesn;t seem quite so good on second consideration, but it's just a thought. Crusader 16 - AKA the energizer bunny. Stocks up on White Raven and Devoted spirit maneuvers, bides his time until next level and Strike of Righteous Vitality, while being an utter btard with the Immoral Fortitude stance, Stone Power, and his Steely Resolve 25. Useful because there's only one real clerical guy and extra healing seems good. The White Raven stuff is iffy though, because it's mostly DM-adjudicated. Unfortunately, Tempest Stormwind's conventional Lancer (Psywar 2 / Scout 11 / Blade Dancer 3) is not usable, since the DM has outlawed setting-specific stuff, which Blade Dancer is. However, Kessalin Tira (I probably misspelled his/her/its name) suggested a raptoran Lancer, which has true aerial mobility and which would probably be fairly boss when combined with levels of Warblade instead of 10 levels of fighter. I am trying to stay away from the bread-and-butter Ranger/Druid/Wizard 16, partly because someone else has already done them. What does CO think? Ideas on builds and refinements on the extant ones would be appreciated... |

If you want mobile and hard hitting, try the Shadow Wing from the ToB Build compendium. Fly-by-attack+Sun School IIRC. Or just Raptoran + Fly-by + big damage std. action maneuvers. There's always cleric for healing. OR Crusader/Cleric/RKV. |
