| Maliseth Tyranis02-27-06, 10:00 AM | Hi, was needing some advice from you optimization savy folks. I'm revamping a character I have played up to 5th level and would like to get your commits on him. He has the half-vampire template with a few modifications to make the level adjustment a +1 instead of +2. He is also half-elf, so from my understanding he gets the half-elf racial bonuses as well as the half-vampire template. We are using 40 point buy system. This character is a swashbuckling type guy who also has some training from the Eastern Lands...aka Samurai and Ninja. Here is what I currently am looking to do.... Swashbuckler 3/(OA)Samurai 2/(OA)Ninja 1/Iaijutsu Master 10 With the +1 level adjustment, this leaves me with 3 more levels that I'm not sure what to do with. Also, I was looking at someone elses thread with a similar build who used Freezing the Life Blood to deliver a Iaijutsu Focused Coup De Grace. I would like to incoporate this as well I think so I may have to trade out some levels. Any advice you may have is appreciated. |

Its simply not acceptable to go from lawful-nonlawful-lawful as the requirements for sam/ninja/iaijutsu. So, move it to first. As per the freezing the lifeblood, I'm not sure, but I think that requires monk. It's probably a lot better to have monk in this build, as it seems you are building an unarmored fighter. So, remove ninja 1, and make it monk1. This makes ALOT more sense. Monk1/Swashbuckler3/Samurai2/Iaijutsu master 10. Feats you need: carmendine monk, faerie mysteries initiate. Carmending monk gives you int to ac, instead of wis (stacks with canny defense). Faerie mysteries initiate gives you int to hp, instead of con. So, with this build, int is most important, then dex, cha, str, wis, con. Also, make sure you MAX out iaijutsu focus. That extra damage will really help. Feats like way of the scorpion are nice too, int to initiative. With all this, here are your ability dependencies: Int to ac, damage, initiative, hps, skills Cha to bonus damage from iai. rolls, init Dex to init, ac, hit Con to fort save Wis to will save Str to damage |

It lets a monk use Int for everything instead of Wisdom. I may go with that. The idea is to use an unarmed strike to use freeze the life blood and then draw your katana and do a Iaijutsu Coup De Grace. |

Edit: I believe Kung Fu Genius is a Dragon magazine feat, and Carmendine Monk is the 3.5 WoTC feat, but they do the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong. |
| tsuyoshikentsu02-27-06, 08:06 PM | You are correct, although remember that Dragon is WotC. |
