| Bannek09-11-05, 08:25 PM | Hey i want to play an elf in an upcoming campaign but i'm not sure what path i want to take him down. It seems to me that an archer will find himself in melee much too often with me. So i was wondering if anyone could help me make a tanked up elf haha. thanks stats are, 17, 16, 15, 15, 15, 14 arrange them however you think they should go. I know their awesome :D |
| AramilWindwalker09-11-05, 08:34 PM | elf fighter 1 str17 dex17 con14 int15 wis15 cha14 weild a scythe, get combat exp and imp trip, wear a chain shirt I hope this is what you wanted. |

You get str, int, and dex to damage, dex and int to AC and are a self buffing machine due to your bladesinger levels. Take improved weapon familiarity at 1st lvl, and talk your DM into letting the thinblade(as many think it should be) count as your bladesinger weapon, then grab yourself a mithril breastplate and your good to go. If we ever get around to playing our FR moonblade campaign, this is probably what I'll play. |

I know their awesome :D If you are worried about Archers in Melee The Order of the Bow Initiate at second level, gives you the ability to fire in close combat and not provoke attacks of opportunity (in both 3.0 and 3.5) Elf Fighter 1: Point Blank, Rapid Shot (Craft [Bowmaking]: 4 Knowledge [religion]: 2) Fighter 2: Precise Shot Fighter 3: Weapon Focus: LongBow Fighter 4: Weapon Spec: LongBow FIghter 5: Fighter 5/OBI 1: ??? Fighter 5/OBI 2: At this point you are Firing freely in Melee, with if you Don't move, 3 shots a round. and this is the minimums to qualify for the class. the OBI was nerfed a lot in 3.5, but it worth at least a 3 level dip IMHO since at first and third you get +1d8 Ranged Precision. Which is a single shot at a creature within 30 feet, but if using a regular longbow would do 1D8 regular damage +2D8 ranged precision. and it can add up as you add additional D8 at 5,7,9 other strong archer prestige classes include crag-top archer and peerless archer. |

I was merely saying that Was the MINIMUM to get into OBI. The 3.5 OBI has a BAB +5 requirement for entry. so you'd need to at least go to 5 in ether ranger or Fighter. personally I prefer Fighter because you can get the feats in a non virtual form. and the Monstrous Manual Lists some Elf subtypes, are none of their favored classes Ranger? EDIT: Yes there is the Wood Elf. MM (p104) +2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Int, -2 Wis, so with 17, 16, 15, 15, 15, 14 that could be... STR 16 DEX 19 CON 16 INT 13 WIS 13 CHA 14 |
