Calatash 03-24-05, 12:22 AM	Hi! This is my first post anywhere on these boards, and I am hoping this is the right place to go. Not too long ago I was directed to the WoTC site to read up on the Eberron Dragonshards, and I found this one (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050110a) and I thought it was drool worthy. I showed it to my DM, and he said that he would trade the Soulknife Wild Talent for a Hidden Talent(Call Weaponry) if I wanted to do it. So my question is: What is the best progression for a melee Monk-Soulknife build? I was thinking to take the 1st level of Soulknife, then 2 levels of Monk, and never look at monk again. The problem is, I wont get a BAB of +1 till 3rd level. I could just take 1 level of Monk, and blow a standard feat on Flowing Blade (found in the above article) but is seems more optimal to just take the second level of Monk for the free feat. So, I'm trying to combine two classes that dont take well to multi-classing, and cant do it right. Help?
Neb Rybel 03-24-05, 02:13 AM	The problem with both classes is that they are best used with as few or as many levels as possible. Monk you either go 1 or 2 (Stunning Fist), or at least 11 levels (Greater Flurry). Soulknife 1 (basic 1d6 Mindblade) or 5 (1d10 Bastard Mindblade). Sure Soulknife 8/Monk 12 looks nice, but getting there sounds painful.
