I am to the mage of the party and other then going straight mage I have no idea on how to add flare to my build. Was thinking of workign toward Mystic Theurge..but I am being told that I dont have the necessary flare, just the minimum...

Any book, any class and prestige class...but no sorceres nor psions !!! they are the only limitations..

Define "the necessary flare". What is it that you require?

One option would be a Lord of the Uttercold Wizard/Necromancer. That's a fairly powerful build. Check here for details.

You could also go for a Thrallherd (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/prestigeClasses/thrallherd.htm)to get a bunch of minions and be a manipulative bastard.

Although I have no idea what you're looking for, if you can use the Red Wizard of Thay Prc you'll pack both extreme power and loads of flavor. It's most easily done with the Leadership feat, but if you're playing in the Thay area, you can find enough wizards to participate in your Circle Magic to pump your caster level to a respectable level.

What exactly would you like though?

In my campaign, we had a gnome wizard that was obsessed with acid... He was crazier than most pyros.

You could always build your flare in the game. I find being evil witht he same tools anyone else uses is best. I mean, the guy who uses glitterdust on their own party to knife your own party is doing a pretty mean and distinctly evil thing. "Accidentally" catching your cleric buddies's army of vampire spawn in a sunburst, you don't need apparent flare to be the biggest baddy, you need real style or just a mean streak. Carry a pick, though. That is a must. Be a transmuter. Evil transmuters scare the bejesus out of me.

The Nazi's made Jews wear pieces of flair!

But on a more helpful note, I definately agree when people say that your flair should be more ingame style. There are not any really definitive evil mage PRC's besides Pale Master, and your cleric already has undead route covered.

Try to deciede what type of evil do you want to be. Crazy insane evil? Cunning and manipulative evil? Power seeker? Money seeker? Then just build a character concept around it.

I think the Wizard/Mindbender/Ur-priest/Mystic theurge route would be a good power crazy evil mage. Wielder of mighty Arcane might, and with the ability to steal the divine power from the Gods themselves. Someone like that should have a serious ego trip  Although I might stay away from Archmage since its a 3 feat sink in pre-reqs for 4 levels. Add 4 levels of Fatespinner since it has easy pre-reqs and good class features. Then your character can also defy fate and bend luck to his desires, as well as use divine power without a god, and throw around arcane magic. My kind of Ego Manic! :evillaugh

I played a whisper gnome wizard/palemaster and used alot from Libris Mortis.

had a Slaymate as my Undead Cohort with levels in Lurking Terror.

also made good use of the Necrotic Cyst line of spells.

The game I played was extremely high powered though and he allowed all of the stat boosting tomes to stack so I ended up with a 46 Int.

edit:

found my character sheet:
used the domain wizard option in Unearthed Arcana (Necromancy Domain)
Used Minor Vampire Bloodline from Uearthed Arcana
took the Vulnerability Flaw (-1 AC) from unearthed Arcana for a bonus feat

My final levels were:
Wizard 5/ Palemaster 10/ Loremaster 4/ Bloodline 1

feats I had:
Skill focus (knowledge religion)
Spell focus Necromancy
Greater spell focus necromancy
Scribe Scroll (wizard bonus)
Stealthy (bloodline bonus)
Spell Penetration (PHB)
Extra Silence (races of Stone)
Silent Spell (PHB)
Black lore of Moil (complete Arcane)
Corpsecrafter (libris mortis)
Mother cyst (libris mortis)
Song of the Dead (Dragon Compendium --> +1 spell level converts spell to necromancy school and allows it to affect undead even if the undead would normally be immune (ie mind-affecting)

also wear goggles of life sight so I can tell what is alive / dead/ or undead on sights.

Slaymate has an aura to reduce the cost of appling metamagic feats to necromancy spells by 1 level

I'd go with leadership and have a gang of thugs and a couple of apprentices. Plans for world domination. Essentially playing the BBEG instead of a PC if you get my drift.
