just wondering if anyone have a good build for a 5/fighter 5/? 10 dervish char. i figure if you take the +5 for the dance and add that with power attack you can get some really nice damage.

Use google advanced search, restricting it to the boards1.wizards.com domain...

With just what you've said, I'd recommend champion of corellon larethian with a Courtblade(RotW) and armor razors (slashing damage, underdark). THF and TWF, max dex as weapon finesse works on both weapons. power attack at normal THF ratio. Of course there are better ways of utilizing dervish, but its a neat concept.

Sure we have. If you want 5/5/10, then you may have to go with fighter / dervish / ?, even though an odd level of fighter is a big no-no.

Overall, I'd say that using THF is much better than TWF, even with a class that synergizes a little bith with TWF like the dervish.

I'd drop that 5 / 5 / 10 mentality and instead go for something more like: 2 ranger / 2 fighter / 2 cobra strike monk / 2 shou disciple / 2 thief-acrobat / 4 dervish / +1 shou disciple / +2 thief acrobat / +3 dervish. Grab a bastard sword and buckler so you can switch between THW, sword and board, and TWF at will. Power Attack/Leap Attack for big offense, TWF v. low AC opponents, S&B for some added defense. You're also never unamed, have great saves, good skills, and a slew of other neat stuff.

If that's too much, then you could always go with Fighter 4 / Monk 6 / Dervish 10. ITWF free and a drop in the flurry penalty.

So anyway, yes it's been done and there are people who believe that it's a better way to go. Perhaps if you put more effort into the idea, we could critique your submission a little better.

Cheers

Otto :)

Dervish with reach (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=480177)

I'm currently playing a

Barbarian1/Fighter2/Ranger2/Dervish2/ExoticWeaponMaster1/Dervish8/?4

Currently level 5.

Decided on the bastard sword/uncanny blow approach, although a starting 16 str is on the low side for this build. Bastard sword allows a shield at the early levels and later outside dances if desired.

I originally planned on Barb1/Fighter4 but since we're a 2 PC party (other is cleric) I decided on more flexibility (skills/track/rapid shot/ranger wands) by taking 2 levels of ranger instead of another fighter feat.

This dervish will end up being much more mobile (+10 speed barb) than his 2WF brethren who need to spend more movement during dances (5 feet movement per attack). Between dances he's still close to full power unlike the 2WF dervishes that depend more on the damage bonus of the dance. He gives up some AC/initiative though being a STR build.

why not Swashbuckler 3/Fighter 2/Dervish 10/Tempest 5

we're looking at 2-hander not 2-weapon builds.

Swashbuckler 3 / Fighter 2 / Dervish 10 / CoCL 2 / Exotic Weapon Master 3

I'm nto entirely sure, but doesn't Races of the Wild have an exotic elvish 2-hander usable with weapon finesse so that this works?

If not, just toss barbarian 2 / swashbuckler 1 in instead.

Either Swashbuckler3/CoCL2/Fighter4/Dervish10 with the Courtblade or use a reach weapon and drop the Swashbuckler.
in the former case look at Wildrunner too.

They're not mutually exclusive. :)

I had an extremely broken dervish fighter. Although it was a little stat intensive It worked around the falchion.
At the time he was fighter 8,dervish 6, never got to play him to his full build, but it got me thinking on another fighter dervish build which ended up being..

Fighter 6
Dervish 10
Fighter 4
Race:wood elf
Feats for 1-6
WepFocus(falchion)
WepSpec(falchion)
PA
Dodge
CombatExp
Mobility
Elusive

This build greatly allows you to control any battlefield if the monsters decide to make AoAs on you.
The damage on this build is insane also, starting off with 20str, stat boost to 22, belt + 6 and a ring of enlarge you get an impressive 30 strength.
Build yourself around crits getting keen on your falchion, critting on 15=+ is nice. At lvl 10 my avg hits were usually 40+ and crits would range from 80-120 easily. With the weapon ability Blessed weapon(BoED) you autoconfirm crits on any evil creature.

Build above lvl 6 you would want improved trip, combat reflexes, than improved crit to get a better +1 on your wep. I suggest spell storing if you have a sorc in your party. Being able to unleash 3 scorching rays from your hit will boost your dpr to insane rates for the encounter.
