+2 LA at most [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-20-06, 04:05 PM I have narrowed down my character that I want to play. Either a Gish or a Monk/Cleric. Do you have any race suggestions for either of these? Can be at most a +2 LA race/template. I have most of the splat books and many other WotC books at my disposal. I need to stay good, but anytying else would be acceptable.

Let me know if you need more info.

Stats are not rolled yet, so I cannot help you there. What do I want to do? As the Monk/Cleric, I am planning on going into Sacred Fist, being a damage/buffer or healer as needed.

If I play the gish, I am looking at being the utility fighter/blaster as need be. This would be a fighter/sorc/spellsword/eldritch build. I think I will be able to use the UA to buy off the LA eventually, I just don't want to havbe to wait for ever to be able to do it.

10-20-06, 04:34 PM Githzerai(XPH) isn't bad for monk multiclassers, it gives good stats, nice specials, and is +2 LA with Monk as favored class.

10-20-06, 04:37 PM Two obvious thoughts that come to mind are the Half-Ogre and the Half-Fey . . both +2 LA

The Half Ogre is large (and therefore hits harder as a monk), has good physical stat bonuses, and reach. He'd be really good with a monk-type character.

The Half-Fay has wings, DR 5/cold iron, a +4 Cha and +2 dex, and some very useful special abilities (Hypnotism and Glitterdust at 1-2, Sleep or Enthrall at level 3-4, Tasha's hideous laughter or suggestion at 5-6, all the way up to insanity or mass charm at 17-18 and otto's irresetible dance at 19+). .most of them 1/day but they often prove useful. Definitely a good fit for a Sorc-gish character

Venerable Dragonwrought Phrenic Kobold.

Only downside is the small size (pun intended! :P)

Agreed, for 2 more levels, more feats/skill points. It's definitely soemtimes better to be a human than +2 LA.

If some cheese is welcome and racial HD are allowed, I'm very fond of Tauric Human-Lammasu (+2 LA, 8 monstrous humanoid HD) Monk 2/Sacred fist 8. Gets things like 17 BAB, large size, 20th level Monk damage with two items (Monk's belt and Gauntlets of the Talon), spells as a 13th level Cleric, Human abilities, natural fly speed, very good bonuses to physical stats, etc. Tauric rocks!

Tauric is from Savage species, Gauntlets of the Talon and Sacred fist are from Complete divine, the rest are core.

10-21-06, 06:01 AM Tauric is 3.5 kosher actually, it's in MM2 which has an official 3.5 update (contrary to Savage Species). The LA has been increased to +3 though.
