| Alacast09-16-05, 06:47 PM | So, for a wizard who's using a 2-level Warlock dip to help qualify for Mindbender more easily, what what are the 2 invocations that -you'd- pick? I like the neat abilities like shatter and spiderclimb, but I'm sure that in a few levels I could just as easily pick up slippers of spiderclimb or a wand of shatter. Maybe it's still worth it? Oh, did I mention I'm undead? Yeah, I'm undead. ;) So, I already have darkvision, which sort of takes a bit of the kick out of See the Unseen. |
| dirkformica09-16-05, 07:10 PM | Doesn't See the Unseen give See Invisible all day? That can be quite useful depending upon your campaign/dm-style. Entropic Warding is nice. You get Entropic Shield (20% miss chance on ranged attacks that target you,) Pass Without Trace and you can't be tracked by Scent all day. If you have any kind of Charisma bonus, Dark One's Own Luck might be nice for a floating boost to a save of your choice (probably Fort.) |
| Tealgorthian09-16-05, 07:48 PM | Any of the Skill Boosts can be handy, but Entropic Warding is one of the best low level abilities ever. Spiderclimb can free up your boot slot for Boots of Speed, as well. |
| Alacast09-16-05, 07:52 PM | Dark One's Own Luck might be nice for a floating boost to a save of your choice (probably Fort.) Eh, I'm undead. "Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless)." And since my Will will be huge, the only save this would be -particularly- good for is Reflex. Still might be a good buy. That's a +3, for me. |
| Caelic09-16-05, 08:03 PM | I'm puzzled--how does a two level Warlock dip make it easier to qualify for Mindbender? Mindbender's already incredibly easy to qualify for. Not that two levels of Warlock doesn't give you some nice goodies, but still... |

Not that two levels of Warlock doesn't give you some nice goodies, but still... My guess? Taking practiced spellcaster to meet the Arcane Caster requirements. Other than that, I am stumped. |
| dirkformica09-16-05, 08:17 PM | One reason for Warlock here may be for the skill requirements since they're all cross classed for Wizard, I believe. And that Fort save might come in handy once people can cast Disintegrate at you. /covering up for missing the undead part of the OP. ;) |
| Caelic09-16-05, 08:23 PM | Well, yeah, but the skill requirements aren't all that high, even cross-classed. I just can't see giving up two caster levels to save a couple of skill points as worth it. As for Fortitude, a two level dip into Warlock is going to hurt your Fortitude saves, not help them. |
| X-Codes09-16-05, 08:37 PM | As for Fortitude, a two level dip into Warlock is going to hurt your Fortitude saves, not help them. Instead of having a 10% chance to make the average save that affects him, he'll have a 5% chance. Either way, it's abysmally low and with the invocation you might be able to get a much better save off when it counts. |
