Hey guys :)

This is my first foray onto the Character Optimization Boards, so excuse my ignorance. Where I work, at a Technical Support Center for Covad VoIP (I can hear the American businessmen cringing), in between calls we have nothing to do. A fellow employee and myself have taken it upon ourselves to find something to do with this spare time. Sitting in the cubicles across from each other, we've decided: Heck, let's have some fun, why not have some Character clashing? So, we decided we would each make characters to duel. Seems, sort of juvenile, but hell, it's better then "vegging" away doing nothing. Don't get me wrong: I am a DM, and someone who places heavy importance on RPing in my games (which is why I'm turning to you folks for guidance, I'm not incredibly versed on extremely powerful "builds").

But anyways, enough of the fluff. Here are the rules we've set down:
1. Only Core Material, preferably things we can look up on the SRD while at work.
2. Maximum 2 Base Classes and One Prestige.
3. ECL 20 Characters.
4. 760,000 GP To start with.
5. Stat Array, to be placed at will : 18, 16, 14, 14, 12, 10
Besides this, just about anything goes. Well, one rule we've agreed on is that no game-breaking characters (Like Pun-pun, H.I.V.E, etc, although I know they are not Core). We each making several characters, and would like some ideas on some interesting/powerful characters concepts.

I've read somewheres that you like posters to include their original concept, so here I go.
Here is my current idea:
Githzerai Rogue 10/Assassin 8
STR. 16
DEX. 38
CON. 14
INT. 14
WIS. 16
CHA. 10

Feats:
Combat Reflexes
Improved Feint
Two Weapon Fighting
Improv. Two Weapon Fighting
Greater Two Weapon Fighting
Martial Weapon Proficiency (Kukri)
Weapon Finesse

Skillwise, I focused on Hide especially, as my plan is obviously to utilize Sneak Attack to its fullest. I have a Ring of Blink, so I am treated as an invisible attacker, so the defender is denied his/her Dexterity bonus to AC. I also have the Improved Feint in the case that my Ring is dispelled. I've got a long list of items I purchased, but this post is long enough already.

What do you think? I know it is a broad question, but what are your favorite Core ECL 20 builds? *cough* Druid 20 *cough* :P

Cheers,
Alacar

Well, there are a ton of core only builds out there already mate...

'easily' findable via a google search constrained by site:http://boards1.wizards.com...

So probably people aren't that interested in your parameters...after all SRD only is not very challenging.

Druids, Clerics, and Wizards are the kings, SRD only...in that order, in my opinion, if you have no buff time.

Arguably, the order shifts depending on how much buff time you have: the wizard actually takes the lead if you have even one round of buff time, because he can extend that via judicious use of timestop.

Initiative will be extremely important in any straight up duel at that level....

Plus, your mileage may vary depending on what your opponant is playing.

Having flight is critical.

Item suppression is fun.

Mordenkainen's (mage's) disjunction really hurts, if you are item dependant...

Meh.

I'd go with a cleric. If you stat him out right he can deal with anything from wizards to fighters without worrying about it too much.

Plus, with a cleric, and the wonderful spells magic vestment and magic weapon, greater, you can save an amazing amount on equipment.

and item load out can be critical. It's all in how you stretch those items to work for you.

The cleric's a good defensive choice, but if you'd rather go offensive, an arcane caster (Probably wizard in this case) can really give you the edge, especially if you are focused on generating save or dies/save or sucks with differing save requirements (have some fort, some will, some ref), enabling you to target the weak saves of any build, and jacking up the DCs of your relevant spells wherever possible.

Most core stuff doesn't even get SR, unless you're getting whack...but the assay resistance spell could help you with that, if need be (Complete Arcane), & if allowed.

Remember Otto's irresistable dance = good times!

Well, y'see, it all depends on the arena set-up.
