20 lvl Wizard with Chosen of Mystra Template. [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-19-06, 12:48 AM Need some help with this. Every time i play a wizad i have a hard time using the meta magic feats. is there a viable alternative to this?

11-19-06, 04:06 AM I don't like to to sac higher level spell slots for lower level spells. I've done a build using arcane thesis and elven spell lore to reduce the slots required for it, but i always seem to want the slots for higher level spells.

Just my preference I guess.

11-19-06, 04:28 AM I can actually understand this as I'm playing an Incantatrix right now who's level 14 and I'm still finding it hard to sacrifice those slots to lower level spells. But when I throw out a chained blindness/deafness, and damn near incapcitate half the attacking force, I feel good about my decision instead of that disintegrate.

Point being, you have to find what works for you. If Metamagic isn't your thing, then focus on item crafting, or knowledge, or whatever. Perhaps buying just one metamagic feat you are comfortable with to begin with and see where you go from there.

11-19-06, 05:56 PM every one always refer me to here, but there is the least amount of help most of the time.

The stats to use are 12-17. I have FRCS, Faiths and Pantheons, Complete Mage, Adventureer, and warrior. PHBII, and core DMg and MM.

If you want an alternative to using Metamagic beforehand, then get Craft Rod and make metamagic rods from your metamagic feats.

11-20-06, 02:40 AM Appreciate it, found meta magic wand grips in complete mage so i think its the way i will try to go. i got a week to build it so there is some time to test it. Quick Draw can work with a wand right?
