My friend started up a 'monster' game. The general premise is that we pick a classical monster (like from a famous mythology or pantheon) and turn it into a D&D character. The idea behind it was that the dreams of people were coming through, and we were playing as the monsters from the 'bad dreams'. Because of that if you were to take a monster like Gremlin, you would get class levels on top of that because in the real world you improve.

Well I picked Frankenstein. My friend made a Frankenstein template (it's actually a little underpowered imo, +6 Str, +4 Con, -2 Cha, -2 Dex, DR 5/Adamantine, Construct traits, except I still have a con score so I still make fort saves for a +4 level adj.) and for my base race I picked Goliath. That race seemed very 'Frankenstein-esque' with the Powerful Build trait. Now, normally I put a lot of forethought into my character but my friend sprung character creation on me last night and I just couldn't finish because I had too many responsibilities, and today isn't that much better, which is when he wants to start gaming.

We're playing at ECL 15, I have 10 total class levels (I dumped them all into fighter and I'm using a Goliath Great Hammer, 3d6 x4). I was wondering if you guys could help me spend those 200,000gp. I don't have nearly enough time to put any real amount of forethought into this.

I can use anything out of any Wizards published source, and the stats are given to me. They're 18, 18, 17, 17, 16, 15. Yeah I know, the DM just has a habit of giving us high stats and then bumping the stats of the monsters accordingly.

Oh also, if you could try to refrain from using abbreviations I'd be really grateful.

Wrathful Healing (Arms and Equipment, or Stronghold Builder's Guide, or some odd book like that) is probably the best weapon special ability there is. It heals you for half the damage you dish out, just like the Vampiric Blade psywarrior power.

It might help a bit if we knew a bit more about your character, like feats, saves, etc. Are you looking mainly to increase damage output? Shore up weaknesses? Things that let you deal with tricky opponents?

This will all be somewhat influenced by your partymates, and how much you can rely on them to buff you. If you supply some Pearls of Power, can you reliably get Greater Magic Weapon, Magic Vestment, Barkskin, Death Ward, and other things like that? Or do you need to take care of your own needs? It is tons more efficient to use Pearls of Power and let the casters buff everyone, but makes you more vulnerable to Dispels.

200,000 gp gets you a +6 Belt of Magnificence. That's +6 to ALL your stats.

My sorcerer got one once and boy did he suddenly like the idea of getting into melee.

That's ALL the money he has. I don't think he's going to be able to do much if the only item he has is a belt. :D

In general, you're better off buying lots of items with smaller bonuses that stack or synergize somehow, rather than one big item. (Unless you are just filthy rich :P )
