| Saulot12-22-06, 06:16 PM | I'll be going into a 20th level arena game sometime like 3 weeks from now, and want some advice on building my character for it. The DM is pretty open about material, and I can use basically anything I can physically present to him. I personally can borrow just about anything outside of Dragon Magazine, so I'm not short on options. I really don't have much concrete info on the game then that, being that's it's still in the planning stages. I DO know that he pretty much ignores any errata unless it fixes a very serious mistake, which conviently DOES NOT include the Polymorph line. What I'm looking to build is a Kobold Master Transmogrifist. Base of Sorcerer, and use the White Dragonspawn template (LA bought off, which the DM ok'd) and the Greater Rite of Draconic Passage (also ok'd) to get Shapechange and Infinite Variety at 20th level. I have no idea if anyone's tried that out before, and don't really know how to best take advantage of it. My last M.T. made great use of the 12-headed Hydra + Will'o'Wisp's natural invisibility or magic immunity, whichever was better for what opponent I faced, with my 1-level Souleater dip helping a lot. But SU abilities change everything. I know there's 1 big problem: since I get Shapechange at 19th level, I can't have more then 3 favored forms that are picked with Shapechange in mind (1 for 9th level, and can exchange an old favored form at both 9th and 10th M.T. levels) and only 7 overall. I know a few things about the game: I know that when about half the contenders are dead, the DM'll throw something rather nasty that we have to team up to deal with (he's hinted a Tarrasque, but he could be trying to trick us). I know the field is gonna be around 9-12 players, most of whom prefer casting, and a few might go for ToB builds. I'm not looking for "end the world with the blink of an eye" power. But I'm definately looking for something to remain ahead of the competition, something that can function in a field of casters. So really, what is the worst I could do? |

Since the Ocean Giant is immune to bludgeoning weapons, just giggle whenever anybody hits you. This will render you immune to all attacks, which includes (according to the PHB) anything that requires an attack roll. Non-attack-roll stuff, you'll need to deal with via the usual means. |
