b3jsd73jfx 06-02-06, 12:39 AM	Alright, here's the build I have so far: Sorcerer 5/Wild Mage 10/Fatespinner 4 I'm having trouble picking out my level 20 though. An easy choice would be the sorcerer because of the BAB bonus, but I'm wondering if there's a better class that will still give me the +1 caster level but perhaps give me a bit more spells known or be a little better than Sorcerer. I think i've looked through most of the allowed books which are basically all of them except for any outside campaign setting (such as Eberron or Forgotten Realms). Any ideas?
MerlintheTuna 06-02-06, 05:09 AM	Sorcerer 6 not only gives you 1 BAB, it also increases all of your saves by 1, which is something to consider as well. There's very likely to be a PrC that fits in here (as there are hundreds of the thing floating around), but Sor 6 is about as good as a Sorcerer level gets.

X-Codes 06-02-06, 05:52 AM	Mindbender gives +2 fort and +2 will as well as telepathy. An option, but it doesn't work if you are good-aligned (is anyone good aligned anymore?)

Take Sorc6, as it ups BAB and saves, all of which you'll need in epic play, especially since you'll likely go wild mage 11, 12, etc in order to get epic bonus feats and thus will be stuck with suboptimal Sor5 bab/saves forever. Any other option is going to cost you a feat (or more) to get 0 bab and +2 will save, unless you want to lose caster levels. +1 to BAB and +1 to all 3 saves and not spending any more to qualify for a PRC is pretty much better all around.
The Rizz 06-03-06, 12:55 AM	You may wish to consider taking your 20th level in a non-spellcasting class. If you take the feat Pratcticed Spellcaster you'll be considered a 20th level spellcaster (although you will be down one 9th level spell known, and two 9th level spell slots), and gain the abilities of another class - there are a few classes that are especially good for a CHA-based caster to use as a 1- or 2-level dip. There are several base classes that can fill this role, so while you must spend a feat on Practiced Spellcaster, you do save feats/skill points by not having to qualify for a PrC. The following three options are all give you benefits that are probably worth the minor loss of spells: Monk: You gain +2 to all saves, a bonus feat, and your WIS bonus to AC. If you take the feat Ascetic Mage, you can instead gain 4 + CHA bonus to AC. These AC bonuses come in very handy in a mage-fight situation, as they add to your touch AC. For a second level in Monk, you gain evasion and another bonus feat. Marshall: A one-level dip will net you one of several benefits for both yourself and any allies qithin 60'; add your CHA bonus to caster level checks to overcome SR, or add it to any one save. Paladin/Blackguard/Soldier of Light/etc: The obvious benefit here is to take 2 levels and gain your CHA bonus to all saves.
Squirrelloid 06-03-06, 09:47 AM	I happen to love Fatespinner 5. Reducing enemy saves for some devastating spell is the only way i've found to have saves not be the 'don't roll a 1' game. I also agree with splashing a nonspellcasting class. You can always pick up that last caster level in epic pretty easily.
