| Dark_beebles01-05-07, 02:24 AM | I am gonna be starting a new group soon, And they are playing a gestalt campaign based in FR. With 2 20th lvl gestalt char's right now, One is a Vampire ftr/rog///Archer/assassin and the Other is a HF Cleric///Druid build.. Both are elven base race's...The HF cleric turned the other guy's PC into the vampire..awhile back. Few house rules to consider are, Psionics, Magic, Shadow Weave are completely seperate and have no effect on each other unless it says in the spell description. I was thinking on being some Power Evil Base creature for 1 side of the build (ie ElderBrain, Balor, Fallen Solar, Pit Fiend ect...). But not sure. All my DM and I came up with is my Guy was "released" after the last battle they had...I was Imprisioned inside Myth Drannor Where the nether scrolls are located. And my guy used to be a Sun Elf who was sealed away with my Moonblade and the nether scrolls since the city fell, and the evil there slowly twisted my guy into what he is now. But i was thinking about a Fallen Solar/Hierophant2//Then some Psionic/wiz type build for the other but any ideas you guys could help with would be grateful. Thanks again. |

Psionics. Definitely Psionics. & Shadow Magic....yes... Maybe a combination of the Killer Gnome & a thrallherd type? Use that bonus + 2 int to the best of it's ability? Low HD, I suppose, and bad fort/ref saves too, I guess... :( Tack on shade template (frcs/pgtf) to offset? Of course, limitations in gestalt mean only one PrC on a side...grr argh. Could theoretically go straight psion(telepath) on the one side while going with the Shadow gnome on the other.... Alternatively, I have always liked the Illumian Martial Rogue/Cleric combination, especially with Divine metamagic/persistent spell/Initiate of Mystra/amf cheese. Good all around saves, d8 hd, full cleric casting, basic immunity to magic...the ability to throw a few band aids around if necessary...insane skills & skill points, evasion, uncanny dodge, improved evasion, rogue special abilities, and more fighter feats than you can shake a stick at. A TWFing sword & boarder cleric with the Magic & Spell (Mystra) domains can really put a hurting on somebody in melee. Sub out four (or just two!) levels for the Shade template and you are talking about one very nasty customer, with possible entry into the Telflammar shadowlord PrC, gaining the shadowpounce ability... The theory, at least, is sound. Especially when you persist a darkness spell. after all, how can it be countered from inside an AMF? Nasty. nasty. nasty. RPing it? a little difficult. Druid//Monk can be very nasty if executed properly (a hint-warshaper). Scout//Warlock, under the right circumstances, is fantastic. Just some thoughts. |

| DeimoZz01-05-07, 11:15 AM | What about using a Black Ethergaunt as the big bad monster side? Its +20 Int bonus will mean that you'll have some pretty nice DC's for your psion side and you'll have some good wizard casting aswell. |

Its +20 Int bonus will mean that you'll have some pretty nice DC's for your psion side and you'll have some good wizard casting aswell.Even though Black Ethergaunt gets d8's for hit dice, it and Psion still have a bit too much "overlap" for my taste (but granted, I'm not the OP). They both still only get a good will save. But a Black Ethergaunt 20//Warblade 20 would be amazing. 17th level wizard casting, d12 hit dice, Full BAB, good Fort and Will saves, and TONS of Intelligence synergy (such as Int to Reflex saves and crit conformation rolls). Again, Black Ethergaunts have a +20 racial bonus to Int - That makes an "average" black ethergaunt have an Int of 30. If you are specializing as a wizard, it should be more like 35 or 40 (before level increases and magic). In effect, you would have the highest Hit Die, Full BAB, and (for most intents) all good saves. |

If would like to play one of those critters I would suggest having a chat with your DM about how high the LA will be if you do. Another option would be Archivist for the class side. Int based spellcasting, strong fort. You could even combine this with two lvl's of monk (+carmendine monk feat, for int instead of wis to AC) and taking the sacred fist prc. (Or is that one out for giving monk and casting bonusses?) |
