| BlindMaster09-03-04, 11:14 PM | Due to being raised by black bears...I am going to be playing a ferral (Human?) barbarian on Sunday. I am shooting for a progression that leads to bear warrior for RP reasons, and that I would be shunned for life for going FB :) With a 28 point buy, and say 5 levels to work with, how would you make this character shine? I am looking to depend very little on items, as armor is itchy :) |

| SolitudeSeraph09-04-04, 10:47 PM | What books can you use? If you have UA go with the "Bear Totem" Variant (for even more flavor) and go the trip route.. I would offer more help..but barbarians and characters of the same archetype were never my cup of tea.. |
| BlindMaster09-04-04, 11:46 PM | Yeah, I haven't played a barbarian in about 6 years I guess :( I prefer the more calm, cool, and collected mass murder types :) I am pretty much just filling in the last spot since we have a rogue/wizard/bard/cleric/sword and board fighter. Since it is point buy and I am going to be using the ferral template I am betting my INT is going to be floating around 6 ish so improved trip isn't an option. If I go human, would Power Attack, Cleave, and say Improved Toughness? Or perhaps Dwarf and go con beast? Pick up say roll with it for my first and 3rd level feet? |
| SolitudeSeraph09-04-04, 11:52 PM | My mistake..I was thinking of wolf totem (it gives you improved trip and other trip bonuses) Anyway, with bear totem you give up fast movement, trap sense, and uncanny dodge and gain: Lvl 1: Toughness as a bonus feat (Good if you want to take roll-with-it..) Lvl 2: Improved Grapple as a bonus feat (Even if you don't meet the pre-reqs) Lvl 3: Great Fortitude as a bonus feat Lvl 4: +4 on grapple checks when raging.. (just wanted to clarify the difference) Meh..sorry I'm not being very helpful :D...this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=111360) might be however.. |
