I am working on a female half orc character who I want to be a sheild basher.

She is going to be a sheild basher.

I am using a 28 point build. She is to use in Living Greyawk.

I was planning on using 10 points to buy a 16 in strength which when added to the Half-Orcs +2 bonus to strength will give her a 18 strength.

I am going to give her Improved Sheild bashing and focus her skills on her strength based Skiils.(Jump,Climb,Swim..etc.)

I need advice what is the best way to distribute the remaining 18 points to her abvilities and what other feat should I assign her.I want her to live up to my concept, which is inspred by Tika from DragonLance but still be a playaable character.

Should I go for a heavy sheid with Spikes for it's increased damage and AC benefit or a light sheild with spikes for the Reduced Armor check penalty.

What back up weapon should she carry.

Thanx in advance for any advice you care to give.

Here is what I was going to do with a TWF/shield bashing character. I planned on being a human, but you could bump the feats up a bit and use it for a half-orc. I don't know much about Living Greyhawk, but I think this will work for it. Is holy liberator allowed?

Human Fighter1
Feats: Improved Shield Bash, Two Weapon Fighting, Expertise
Gear: Small Spiked Metal Shield, Flail, Chain Shirt

Eventual Build:
Ftr4/Barb2/Rogue3/HolyLib10/?
1 Ftr1 Imp Shield Bash, Expertise, TWF
2 Ftr2 Imp. Trip
3 Barb1 Imp. Disarm (Endurance if I want a level of Templar later)
4 Rog1
5 Barb2
6 Rog2 Iron Will
7 Rog3
8 HL1 Detect Evil at will, +2 vs. Enchant, Spells
9 HL2 Extra Rage, Cha to saves, Smite Evil
10 HL3 Turn Undead
11 Ftr3
12 Ftr4 Power Attack, Divine Might

If you plan on dual-wielding at all, that will really hurt your attributes because it needs a 15 Dex, and I don't see much point in using shield bash over a weapon if not planning on dual-wielding. So your best bet of getting around the 15 Dex would probably be getting some levels of ranger. The downside if that is you're stuck in light armor which is good for high-dex characters but bad for low-dex characters. If you don't want to dual-wield, then its really simple. You don't even need to take Improved Shield Bash, just use a spiked shield as a weapon in primary hand and a tower shield for defense in the other hand... that lets you attack with a shield and still get a shield bonus to AC w/o the feat or high Dex (or even Two-Weapon Fighting feat and attack roll penalties).

Tower shields impose a -2 to attacks which hurts at low levels especially. (In Living Greyhawk, getting past level 3 or so can take a long time.) I would also advise against TWF. It is very hard to do well with low attributes in a low power campaign, which LG is.

I would suggest a large spiked shield and a whip or net. The whip is used to trip foes at range and the net is for entangling foes making them easier to deal with for all. They both only require a touch attack, so the non-proficiency penalty becomes much less of a problem. Nets are easily obtainable and reasonably cheap at 20 gp, which is good since they are easily cut. Don't ever worry about dropping your whip, they only cost 1 gp.

As far as your last 18 points for attributes, 4 should go into your 12 wisdom and 6 into your 14 con, both are crucial to survival. Your last 8 points have to be divided between a 8 dex, 6 int & 6 cha. I would put 4 into dex, since a dex penalty will affect you much more than the others, being a combat character, and I would put the other 4 into int since you will probably be taking barbarian levels and the skill points shouldn't go to waste. I would just eat the 6 cha. Be wise enough not to talk when social graces are required.
