| Gevaudan03-11-06, 02:00 PM | Greetings to all of you skillful CO’s, This is my first post to wizards boards. I’ve read much of the stuff available on this site and would love some custom help. I’m currently running a PAC human wizard in the “Sunless Citadel” series in the 3.5 Greyhawk campaign setting. We just finished the Speaker in Dreams module and have arrived in the next town & fought off the ghost. I’d like some advice on where to go now from a CO stand point. I need to provide my party with equipment, I’m a leader type character and I’m our primary source of combat damage. Also, I’m our utility character. Our party consists of a straight druid and her wolf, a FTR/Tempest, me and a non-optimized NPC cleric/thief. Also we have my cohorts and construct and a raven familiar. Up until this point I’ve made all of my picks by using only the books I own (PHB, DMG, MM I, CA, CAD, CW), but I’m willing to spread out from there. DM house rules/enforced situations: 1.) Campaign is 3.5 2.) DM allows custom item and spell creation by DMG rules 3.) UA is off limits 4.) All other official WotC books are open, BUT I have to be able to justify odd picks by balance and roleplaying (ex. I’m a human Maester because we bailed out a gnome community and I made some diplomacy roles) 5.) In-game time between modules is very limited and we’re always in hick towns. Our party usually has between 3-5 days to get our stuff done, thus I’m an item creator for the party and I took Maester because we couldn’t build enough stuff fast enough. My current wizard: Hugh DuVargrave Human Wizard5/Maester 2 Stats: 16/17/16/17/12/14 (we rolled 4d6, drop and arrange; I rolled really well;) Feats and abilities: 1- precocious apprentice and the other feat next to it that gives 4 spells learned at the start of each level. See time restrictions above. 3- craft wondrous item 4- put a point in Con 5- Craft arms and armor 6- leadership, craft construct I’m probably going to bail out of Maester after my next level and it’s lovely free ID skill. From there I’m not sure where to go. I can’t really afford more than 1-2 more losses in caster level, it was bad to loose even one. I’d love to see this character stretch into either a more martial direction or just maged out fully. I’ve considered moving to fate-spinner for 4 levels or argent savant, though the latter would cost me another caster level. Also I recently learned of the artisan feat and would like to see that happen. I'd love some creative suggestions. |

Full BAB, and you'll only lose 2 total levels: 7 wiz/2 maes/1 fight/10 eldritch knight. Spells as a 16th lvl wizard, and a 14 + maester BAB. Enlightened Fist is another fun PrC, but only grants 8/10 spellcasting progression. If you wanna go full mage (which is my recomendation, despite your amazing stats) then take a look through complete arcane - there's more PrC's than I can remember at the moment. From the DMG, lore master is an under-rated but rather powerful character - just don't go to the front lines. 10 lvls in lore master gives you 5 secrets, lore (aka bardic knowledge), 2 bonus languages, free identify, and legend lore/analyze dweomer once per day. You also already meet some of the prereqs, and would only need another feet, 10 ranks in two knowledges (your INT should make that relatively easy), and 7 divination spells (if you're short here, 7 scrolls is an easy fix ^-^) Oh, Wizard the rest of the way's a good option too. Those bonus feats are helpful, especially if you're the item guy. |

You spend an hour with the homunculi imbuing it with the spells and xp needed to make the item and it does the crafting while your away, plus when your not in need of a new magic item, you can have them perform regulary crafting duties, such as weaponsmithing to make masterwork items for profit (its not much profit, but hey at least the little guy is keeping busy) |
