Warblade 20. Occult Slayer I stumbled across the SoK’s Favored Enemy- Evil, and felt that this had to be used some how, so I came up with this. Sadly enough, I was going to make a SA Rouge before I came across this and it evolved into a 1h beat down. It’s really good against Evil, especially casters, but I still feel that that is a little narrow. This build seems like it would get wrecked by anything that isn’t evil, and I don’t want that. I would like to either have this more optimized so I deal more damage against everything and not just evil, and maby reduce the number of non-neccisary class's. Or, totally forget about the Foe Hunter aspect and refer me to a build with some like flavor in that it is a) Playable from level one, b) Can lay down some nice damage (2h Sword now required, anything will do), and c) Is not a “combat only” character (it can help the party outside of battle, Ex: Track, Find traps, Diplomacy, etc.) |

| iconoplast02-01-07, 01:18 PM | 0. Ranger Favored enemy - Arcanists. I'm guessing you're already using this, so it doesn't really get its own number. 1. Feats: Power Attack, Leap Attack, Favored Power Attack. 2. Item: From the Dragon Compendium (weak, I know), pg 136: Girdle of Hate; "The girdle doubles all bonuses the wearer gains against the chosen racial or favored enemy, such as those possessed by dwarves or granted by the ranger class." 3. Take 2 levels of Occult Slayer. ----- Power Attack Ratio: 2:1 (Greatsword) * 2 (Leap Attack) = 4:1 + 1 (Favored) * 2 (Girdle) = 6:1 when Power Attacking Evil or Arcanists. Because of the way the Stalker's class feature is written to stack with your normal bonuses, you might be able to wheedle your way to an 8:1 ratio vs Evil Arcanists. Triple (Double (Occult Slayer) * Double (Girdle)) damage when you ready an action to disrupt spellcasting. I'd also throw a level of Crusader in there for Thicket of Blades, to prevent those pesky five foot steps. |
| NoSix02-01-07, 05:48 PM | Arcanists? As in, Anyone who casts arcane spells? You can do that? (!?!?) Girdle of hate is rediculose with this build. Thanks much for youe suggestions |
| iconoplast02-01-07, 09:24 PM | Favored Enemy (Arcanists) is a little broaded than that, it's a variant Ranger ability in Complete Mage, and it requires 1 rank in Knowledge (Arcana). |
| NoSix02-02-07, 12:29 AM | I dont have access to Complete Mage, could you elaborate a little more on Arcanists. If its more broad then someone who casts arcane spells, then that seems like a really good Favored enemy. Unfortunatly, without the text the GM may not let me use it. |
