| Runeblood703-09-06, 12:01 PM | I have a 6th level game coming up and have three different builds that I wanted to try out. I wanted to try some kind of Rogue, but with 3 people in the party, he needs to have a good and solid dual purpose. there will be a Ranger 5/ Revenant Blade 1, and a Cleric 5/ RSoP 1, so I wanted to fill the Rogue slot and hopefully overcome the need of arcane with just damage. I tried to sum up some of the strengths of each. Whisper Gnome Rogue 3/ Ranger 2/ Beastmaster 1, Hide +20, Move Silently +16, Search, DD +10, Track, Two Weapon Fighting, Evasion, Trapfinding, 2d6 Sneak Attack, Animal Companion of a 7th Level Druid, Weapon Finesse, Skill Focus: Handle Animal, Natural Bond, Melee +8/+8 (1d4/1d3 Rapier, Dagger), AC 22 Main Weaknesses: Light on finding and disarming traps. Dwarf Rogue 3/ Totemist 3, Hide +22*, Move Silently +17*, Search, DD +8, Sneak Attack 2d6, Evasion, Trapfinding, 3 Melds, 5 Essentia, 1 Bind (Totem), Capacity 2 (3 on Totem), Multiattack, Indigo Strike, Bonus Essentia, Melee +8/+6/+6/+6 (1d4+4/1d4+3 Claws), Grapple +12, AC 21 Main Weaknesses: Light on finding and disarming traps. Warforged Rogue 5/ Fighter 1, Hide +13, Move Silently +13, Search, DD +10, Sneak Attack 3d6. Trapfinding, Evasion, Uncanny Dodge, Mithral Body, Combat Expertise, Improved Trip, Power Attack, Melee +8 (2d4+4 Guisarme), Trip +7, AC 20 Main Weaknesses: Damage Output, Less Stealth than other 2. Any tips or critiqes would be helpful. So far the books available are all WOTC but FR. |
| Kuroi Kenshi03-09-06, 05:34 PM | Can't comment much on the first two, as I know little to nothing about Beastmaster or Totemist. What stands out is the discrepancy between their stealth and trapfinding skills...why not put a rogue level near the end of each build to fix the cross class skill lag? The weaknesses of those builds would be diminished for it. The latter build seems okay, though unless you plan to take more rogue levels later, it'd probably be better to drop a rogue level for something else so you don't lose any more BAB than necessary. That aside, given your missing roles in the party you could consider a Chameleon build and go with arcane and combat focus. With the able learner feat you should be able to keep your skills up quite easily, and INT so happens to be the chameleon's primary casting stat. Human Rogue3/Ranger2/Chameleon1 would be the start. Just finish chameleon from there. Change out a ranger level for a fighter level (or both levels) if you want to get spellsword at some point to get 10% reduced ASF. |

Could be funny to go for "Fang of lolth" prestige class (Song&Silence) for four extra arms and some extra SA. 8 arms, 24 attack, SA 5D6 at about lvl 17-18. Could he be a thri-kreen for 2 xtra arms? Then he could have 10 arms at lvl 20. |
| Shadow_Fox_Deepwood_Arche03-11-06, 10:28 AM | For the first build, Natural Bond cannot raise your effective druid level higher then your HD. You have 6 HD and list a lv 7 druid companion. |
| Runeblood703-12-06, 06:24 PM | You are correct, Natural Bond can't, but Beastmaster does. |
