| Bill Bisco: Average Adventurer01-27-07, 02:06 PM | Alright, I'm about to start a new Gestalt campaign from Level 1, and I'm looking for your input with which would be the most fun to play. A few things of note 1. Dual-Classes are allowed, but you can only advance 1 Prc at a time 2. I have never used Charging tactics or Wizards in a Real Game. 3. I'm just worried about the build right now, Race won't be human so there is no bonus feat from there Anywho, what do you guys think would be the most fun build? I am completely open to changing the feats and altering the Fighter side on the left. Idea 1 Side 1 |01|Warblade 1 |02|Fighter 1 |03|Fighter 2 |04|Warblade 2 |05|Crusader 1 |06|Crusader 2 |07|Swordsage 1 |08|Swordsage 2 |09|Warblade 3 Side 2 |01|Wizard 1 |02|Wizard 2 |03|Wizard 3 |04|Binder 1 |05|Anima mage 1 |06|Anima mage 2 |07|Anima mage 3 |08|Anima mage 4 |09|Anima mage 5 Feats |01|Extend Spell |02|Power Attack |03|Improved Bullrush, Improved Binding |04| |05| |06|Shock Trooper |07| |08| |09|Leap Attack Idea 2 Side 2 |01|Wizard 1 |02|Warlock 1 |03|Warlock 2 |04|Warlock 3 |05|Warlock 4 |06|Eldritch Theurge 1 |07|Eldritch Theurge 2 |08|Eldritch Theurge 3 |09|Eldritch Theurge 4 Feats |01|Precocious Apprentice |02|Power Attack |03|Improved Bullrush, *Free* |04| |05| |06|Shock Trooper |07| |08| |09|Leap Attack Idea 3 Side 2 |01|Bard 1 |02|Wizard 1 |03|Wizard 2 |04|Wizard 3 |05|Wizard 4 |06|Ultimate magus 1 |07|Ultimate magus 2 |08|Ultimate magus 3 |09|Ultimate magus 4 |10|Ultimate magus 5 |11|Sublime Chord 1 |12|Ultimate magus 6 |13|Ultimate magus 7 ect. | PhoenixInferno01-27-07, 04:22 PM | I'm not sure I like putting a dual caster (or invoker/caster or caster/binder) as half of a Gestalt build - why not take the opportunity to focus on something? |
| Bill Bisco: Average Adventurer01-27-07, 05:02 PM | I'm not sure what you mean. Perhaps you could clarify? my goal for the second half is simply fun. |
| ressurrector01-27-07, 07:09 PM | Ok, silly question: Why all 3 base initiator classes? It could be argued that even though you have 2 non-Initiator classes every level, you still only get +1/2 IL every HD. Also I would see it as a common ruling for any DM using ToB materials and gestalt. In this case taking 3Warblade, 2Swordsage, 2Crusader, and 2Fighter levels on one side would be most definitely sub-optimal. If you want casting/maneuvers in massive quantity just do Swordsage on one side and Warblade/Wizard/JPM on the other side. It's also worthwile to note that it is suggested dual-progression classes (essentially PrCs that advance two base classes) should be banned in gestalt. Before you plan on using any (like anime mage, eldrtich theurge, ultimate magus) you should check with your DM that it's kosher. |
| DaveTheMagicWeasel01-27-07, 07:28 PM | I'd go with option 1, Anima Mage is good, and the Binder doesn't really cost you actions (which the other builds will never have enough of to actually use all their abilities). And I'd probably just pick 2 Initiator classes to focus on. Probably Swordsage (Shadow Hand stuff synergizes nicely with Paimon and the vestiges that give sneak attack/sudden strike) and Warblade (Int Synergy). |
| Jaisin01-27-07, 08:45 PM | Anima Mage, Eldritch Theurge, and Ultimate Magus all are dual-class progressions that you shouldn't have access to in Gestalt. If you do have them available for play - lucky you, but that will just make things crazy-stupid. Really, what would be 'the most fun' would be sticking with one caster and your ToB build on the other side of the equation. Here's what I see: For your ToB side, you've got a serious MAD problem - Wis for AC, Int for Warblade abilities, Dex/Str/Con to be a reasonable fighter. . . With that in mind, Sorcerer or Warlock would only complete the problem and require high scores for all attributes. That's just to start, but there are others here who are better than I of articulating the details of IL, CL, and Dual Progressions. As a DM, I would not allow either the JPM, or RKV. My 2 cp. |
