I'm a DM, and since a player of mine thought of a prospective character (more of a Fighter type) using Arcane Archer, I got to thinking about the prereqs...and the Imbue Arrow ability.

Bard 8 lets you have useful spells to imbue (Dispel Magic, Fear, Scare, etc.), bardic music to support your party, decent skill selection...

The one problem, is that with an Elf or Half-Elf, you use all your feats to satisfy the prereqs (Of course, in my homebrew campaign there are neither, but I'm planning to adapt it to a nation of humans, but that's neither here nor there).

Any thoughts?

It's alright, but not great. General opinion is that Arcane Archer isn't worth taking for more than two levels, if it's worth taking at all.

If you're interested in doing lots of cool bow damage, there are better ways to do it. Sublime chord is good, because the spellcasting makes up for the rest, and there is no shortage of archer build on the boards already.
