Hi all! I've recently started a 3.0 game as a Human Abjurer (opposed school is just necromancy due to a houserule), with plans of taking the classes Ab5/Incant10/ArM5, and I was wondering what feats I should take. This game WILL be going epic in the future, if I survive of course, so with that in mind please pick apart my suggestions:

I have 12 feats to work with; 1 for being human, 1 for the 5th level wizzy bonus feat, 3 metamagic bonus feats from incantrar, and of course the base 7. I have access to ALL the FR books, the core 3.0 books, and THAT IS IT. No splatbooks, no Dragon, etc.

I was thinking along the lines of this:
Human)-spellcasting prodigy
1)-eschew materials(counts as a MM feat in 3.0)
3)-iron will
5(wizzy bonus)-empower spell
6)-spell focus(evocation)
6(bonus MM)-maximize spell
9)-spell focus(enchantment) or (transmutation)...not sure which
10(bonus MM)-quicken spell
12)-skill focus(spellcraft)
15)-Craft Wonderous Item
15(bonus MM)-twin spell
18)-Improved Initiative? Gr. spell focus?

Archmage powers:
1)Mastery of elements
2)Mastery of shaping
3)spell power +2
4)spell power +1
5)spell power +3

Should I bother trying to fit in Improved counterspell/reactive counterspell/mastery of counterspell? Is there something important I'm forgetting that I'll need for Epic levels? Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks again!

its hard to pull off as a wizard but a very powerful combo.

your feats look alright, i would switch the item creation to the front maybe, many good items to create even with small ressources

i am no fan of evocation, istead i would focus on transmutation, has the right spell for every save your enemy wont succeed with.

enchantment is a bit worthless at high levels when everybody and his balor buddy walk around with mind blank

Good point on the enchantment spell focus; i'll take transmutation instead, thanks FS!

Is craft wands useful to take, or will scribing scrolls be enough to get me by? Also, should I bother with say...craft staff @ 18? I have limited experience when it comes to epic play, and since this campaign will be heading in that direction, the limited feats I have are important b/c of the epic feats that are built off them. Thanks again!

i am not very experienced in epic play but personally i consider most epic items as too pricey even when made by yourself.

with CWI and eventually magical artisan for it you can make nearly everything.

epic spellcasting takes a lot of time to develop cool spells, but you can do nifty things with it.
i think buff-spells are done best while direct damage is pretty hard to pull off with them.

as an incantatar you will have quite some metamagic powers, take the feats to use them.

craft wand is not worth it if you are doint hem just for yourself imo, scrolls work just fine.
the one or other wand you need can also be bought.

if you have a rogue in your party this could be another thing, rogues love to have wands with greater invisibility etc pp at hand, and if you use the optionla rule that somebody else can spend the XP you can have your buddy helping creating the wands of his dreams.

as a sidenote:
maximize and empower do not work too well together. in 3.0 empower is more powerful.

i would also opt for extend and maybe persistant spell, as an incantatar its really cheap.

Maximize and empower are both needed for one of the epic feats that takes a spell, maximizes it, then doubles the damage. Also, in 3.0, couldn't you empower+empower the spell, or was that errata'd?

Finally, while I see the point for a cleric (divine power, etc.), what spells are good to persistent thats on a wizzy spell-list?

P.S.-->Thanks for the dialogue, FS. Seems no one else wants to talk w/ me! :( ;)

take a look at the optimization library (linked in the build-FAQ), there is a thread with persistant spells for wizards i think.
its no longer that useful since PGtF nerfed the feat, but for you its golden
