3.5 Bard optimization needed please [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-08-05, 05:45 PM I started a campaign and I am constantly picked on my the other classes for being a bard. Please assist me on shutting up these lesser savages by showing them the greatness which is Lucious the Sublime.

Str-8
Dex-14
Con-12
Int-16
Wis-8
Chr-18

Feat
1st-Outworldly

I'm planning on playing maybe a Bard9/Virtuoso1/SublimeChord1/Virtuoso9 with the following feat progression:

3-Nymph's kiss
6-Heighten Spell
9-Subsonic
12-Words of Creation
15-Extraordinary Concentration
18-Telfirian Song

I wanted his illusion spells to benefit greatly from EC and TS while still having good buff songs. Outworldly will allow him to polymorph to an outsider and Nymph's kiss gives him Cha bonuses including on UMD. Am I going in the right direction?

Other than that, I think you'll do fine. Someone other than me might help you rearrange your feats for optimal progression. Your stats are great for a bard, and well placed. Remember to remind the other players every time they hit because of your singing and buffing. ;)

Nymph's Kiss doesn't HAVE to be taken at 1st level, it's just best taken at 1st because of the skill bonus only applying on levels after you took it.

Song of Spell Power is so much better than Inspire Greatness or whatever you get with Bard 9.

I thought about that but I took it because I wasn't sure if Suggestion DC stack with Virtuoso. If it didn't, I figure a +9 is better than 8 on those checks. :thinks: But I do agree with SC2 to be more lucrative since this is a spellcaster Bard. Nymph's kiss can be taken at anytime, 1st being the most optimal, but Outworldly got first dibs.

Remember to remind the other players every time they hit because of your singing and buffing.
