Feats: Point Blank Shot" He has a set of Masterwork Studded Leather and uses a Light Crossbow. Notice Hide (+5 dex modifier, +4 skill ranks, +4 racial bonus, +4 size bonus = +17 modifier) I'm thinking of taking him Invisible Blade. Since he can cast [i]Silence[/b] as a spell-like ability 1/day it will help against casters. What do you think? |

Okay i'm done. Can't wait to play a whisper gnome myself. The build looks fine. Why not take Master Thrower levels too if you're going to take invisible blade. why would you take Point Blank Shot at 1st level? I'm guessing you don't have access to PGtF regional feats. Check it out if you can, there's a lot of nice feats that would help you out or replace equipment slots. |

Charisma is important, because 3.5 nerfs feinting in combat, and you need every little bit of advantage you can get. Extra silence also has more bennies for a higher charisma. Also, you need Search, or you're neglecting one of the core rogue abilities, which is find traps. All the disable device in the world can't help you without Search to find them. To be honest, I find the Invisible blade to be suboptimal, really, since there are easier ways to get SA than bluff, and since it essentially wastes a feat (PBS) since you can't bluff in ranged combat. You're much better off using a ranged weapon and sniping by takes a -20 to your hide check. Especially with the crazy bonusai from Shadow Gnome. I'd be more tempted to go for a PrC with more teeth, like master thrower, Ninja of the Crescent Moon, or even just go straight rogue and milk your int for all it's worth. Silencing Attck and Extra silencing will make this character good against spellcasters all by themselves. Also, I'd be tempted to put one of those 18s in Int, for a rogue. /All/ other stat boosts add to your attributes retroactively and with full bonus from magic items /except/ Int and skill points. It's wirth giving up +1 to hide now for 11 extra skill points (at least). Just my two cents. PS You have an awesome stat set here, allowing you some flexibility. These stats would let you make one hell of an Arcane Tricskter, if you wanted, and keep you from suffering unduly. |
| Ipsissimus08-23-04, 04:17 AM | Harmor, why did you post this thread twice on the same board? Do you really like whisper gnomes that much? ::cough:: |
| Orkz08-24-04, 08:48 AM | Well, they look nice, expecially for ECL0 and darkvision, 30ft speed and low-light... I'm not sure what to make my Whisper Gnome... Rogue 3 / Sorcerer 6 / Shadowdancer 1 / Arcane Trickster 10? Rogue 3 / Monk 2 / Invisible Blade 5 / Ninja of the Crescent Moon 10? A Mix of those two? To cast or not to cast... But Whisper Gnome is definitely a good choice for everything *silent* EDIT: Anyone know a good tactic for Rogue / Builds like this to survive undead? |

Losing a feat (Point Blank Shot) is a pain in the ass, however, he gains a full base attack, and PBS is a prereq for Master Thrower, so it all works out in the end if he goes that route. So you want him to Hide (roll10+17modifier = 27 average Hide), get up an Snipe, and rehide at (roll10+17modifier =27 - 20 = 7 Hide?) that makes little sense. |
