3.5 trying to make a cleric/assassin, please help. [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-21-06, 02:43 AM I want to build a cleric that qualifies for the assassin class with 7 cleric caster levels or sooner and 7 effective character levels (no monster hit dice or level adjustments). The only way to do so is to access a domain, feat, prestige class, or something that grants move silently as a class skill.

The concept I am going for is a necromancer that has the hide in plain sight skill who can use his minions to flank and sneak attack his enemies.

Please submit where I can access such a thing, or if its even possible.
If anyone submits Cleric/Assassin builds, please try to avoid multiclass xp penalties and please use the standard set array attributes (8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15)
A list of my available books is in my sig, please use them if you can. If not, feel free to use other material since I cannot seem to find anything in my collection.

12-23-06, 07:25 PM Ruathar gets Hide and Move Silently as class skills, and has 4 + Int skill points per level.

So you could make a Cleric 5 / Ruathar 2.

As long as you have at least Int 10, you are set.

Seeing as how Assassin doesn't advance your clerical spellcasting, why do you need to have all those clerical caster levels until then? The best bet for a divine assassin type is the Black Flame Zealot from Complete Divine. In 10 levels, it gives you 5 caster levels, +3d6 sneak attack, and Death Attack which stacks from other classes (including Assassin).

The question is, what do you want to optimize in a clerical assassin build?
Spellcasting? Sneak Attack? Or Death Attack?
The answer to this question will determine your build.

12-24-06, 03:43 PM What mellowship said, also Death Attack DC requires INT not something you standard cleric has in bucket loads. I'd go black flame zealot and not bother with assassin to be honest.

Also please read the posting guidelines, I'm only a regular reader here not a regular poster but the line "Please submit builds" does not come across well at all.

12-26-06, 11:24 PM Ruather, I believe, is in Races of the Wild. It's "Elf Friend", you get elf bonuses and stuff if you're non-elf, and you get better ones if you are an elf...

at least I think that's which one it is.

12-26-06, 11:36 PM Strife Leader is found in Faiths and Pantheons. It gives an improved death attack, access to many illusion spells, and mixes well with Black Flame Zealot.

+14 BAB, +7D6 sneak attack, 7th lvl cleric casting, 8th lvl assassin casting, HiPS, death attack DC 24+int, Flaming weapons and fear immunity.

Also, Xeraph has this super sleek Death Attack/caster build called the Black Flame Strife Leader.

Archivist 4/ Rogue 1/ Black Flame Zealot 5/ Strife Leader 10

either way...just my 2 cp

12-28-06, 02:23 AM Black flame zealot is awesome sneak attack damage, you can make your weapon burn black for an extra d6 of damage(does not have to be a kukri, though kukris are awesome), and unholy immolation is just cool
