3.5e Books Only [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-11-07, 07:04 PM Ok, now a friend is running a new campaign and only allowing 3.5e books to be used.

I really dont know what to use. The DM says the an unlawful character would fit best. Personally, I prefer a character that isn't good or lawful. So this rules out monk and paladin.

I know most people are going to say, "Well what are you looking for in your class." I'd like something good, something overpowered. I was thinking maybe straight 20 levels barb, or a 12 fighter/8 rogue build I had (ranged base character). 15 wizard/5 archmage might be good too.

Any suggestion welcome. If a fighter or any other feat based class is selected, please note the feats. If a class that selects its spells is selected, please include the spells picked.

02-11-07, 07:06 PM Do you mean 3.5 CORE books only (as in the Player's Handbook, DMG, and Monster Manual)? Or do you mean that unupdated 3.0 material can't be used? There is a vast difference...

There are a fair bit of 3.5 books, if you haven't noticed. About 30ish is my current bet, but it's probably higher. And 'overpowered' is about as vague as 'somewhere in the universe.' What kind of character do you want to play? A spellcaster? A skill monkey? A tank? Are you only using the Core 3 books? (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual)

02-12-07, 07:50 AM Oh, then Druid20. Read the Revived Druid Handbook (it's in the first few pages,or check the sticky thread or just google)

02-12-07, 07:38 PM Cleric 20 or Wizard 20's just about as powerful overall, but not quite as dominant throughout all the levels--the wizard's a little more of a slow starter and gets stronger in the endgame, where Druid's consistently strong from start to finish.
