| locustus08-26-03, 04:22 PM | Hi can anyone help me with my NG 6th level Fighter/Cleric character? I would love to play a more combat oriented character with a dwarven waraxe as his favored weapon. Which domain's domain's should i choose and which feats are recommended? Allowed are PHB,DMG,MM, Builder Bocks (but no hospitaler), FRCS. Stats are: 18,16,14,12,12,10 Thanks Mark |

If you really want a "fighter/cleric" make a dwarf paladin. If you really want to be combat oriented, go with the fighter. Since you are starting at level 6 you probably won't be picking up any PRCs (since most PRC's require six levels to qualify) but you might want to take a look at Dwarven Defender and pick your feats accordingly. A pure cleric CAN be quite effective in melee. You get just as much armour as a fighter and (if you have the war domain of the right god) you can still pick up that war axe. With careful spell selection and use you can be just as deadly as the figher in battle most of the time (and sometimes more so)... provided you have time to "power up" before entering combat. However, in actual play you will probably be less combat oriented than a fighter or paladin because the rest of the party will be pressuring you to heal them and so forth. Anyway, if you reply with a preference for fighter, paladin or cleric I could be more specific. |

| nikademus08-27-03, 07:50 AM | Hello, my current dwarven build 3.5 : Cleric of Haela Brigtaxe Cleric 1-6 chaotic good Str 18 / Int 10 / Wis 16 / Dex 14 / Con 12 +2 / Cha 12 -2 Str 18 / Int 10 / Wis 16 / Dex 14 / Con 14 / Cha 10 Domains : Luck and War Feats Weapon focus Greatsword (free) 1) Dodge 3) Mobility 6) Spring attack Equipment Full Plate (1.500) Boots of striding and springing (5.500) With the full plate and the boots you have a move of 30 in 3.5 With spring attack you avoid full attacks and can cast and sometimes attack. You are a good fighter. 1st round of combat : cast bull strength Str 22 bab +4 + 6 str + 1 WF + 1 Masterwork Weapon = +12 / + 9 damage. You have full spellcasting progression and can heal yourself. further feats 9) extend spell Cast Magic Vestment at Lvl 6 and Greater Magic weapon at lvl 8. You can never have enough healers in a group, one cleric will not be enough to heal 3 fighters. Nikademus |

I also like Dumathoin for a dwarven deity. I know you wanted the axe but I like the hammers myself with dwarves (and in all reality the extra +2 on max damage isn't a big deal its the pluses that you'll get when buffed that will do the most damage),hehe. The domains of metal and earth are cool. But hey, whats a 4'2" 180 lb bearded tank know anyway, play what you will enjoy and its all god. |
