Okay. Here's the story: we are playing a one off adventure at epic levels. I know nothing about epic. I'm playing an incantrix, focused in reduced cost metamagic. Which feats and magic items (4,200,000 gp of purchases) and spells should I take? Looks like some of the big problems involve getting a high enough AC (the epic cleric has an AC in the 50s?!?!), and the fact that I want about twelve rings and a half dozen amulets. Can't decide between twilight mithril chain and mithril buckler or bracers of armor and monk's belt. Does anyone have any advice/ links to good builds/ things to think about? This is my first epic adventure and I'd like to survive at least halfway through it. Thanks!

Nothing? Is there a better board?

I'm looking at reducing the metamagic cost so that Quickened 8th and 9th level spells can get tossed around like candy, but I'd also like to survive. One thing I'm wondering about is: is it worth it to pick up epic items to boost your bracers of armor, amulets of NA, heabands of intellect, etc. above +8, +5 and +6 respectively? sure, the extra 3 AC or whatever are useful, but it moves the magic item cost from a drop in the bucket (64,000 gp? I have 4200000!), to crazy high numbers. the cost difference can get you alot of candy (such as that rod of invulnerability, or epic staves). Any opinions?

...you're an incantrix... you don't need anything except spellcraft to quicken 8th and 9th level spells. I'm guessing Wizard 10 / Incantrix 20?

Basically, I'll just say this. Take epic spellcasting and leadership, donate all your money to developing spells, and go down to level 21 or something. You should be able to get a few +hundred to every stat.
If you really want items, get something with constant Freedom of Movement, a Starmantle Cloak, an amulet of retribution, +30 spellcraft item (ring or something), a mantle of second chances (reroll is always awesome), a scroll of fiery spirit / cold spirit, immunity stuff in general (+1 soulfire bracers of armor of heavy fortification)... etc

Besides the usual rigmarol (sp?) of Epic Spellcasting, here's some thoughts.
Wizard5/Inc10/Archmage5/Inc+1/Monk1/Inc+8.
Practised Spellcaster is not really necessary, in my opinion.
Wiz5/Inc10/Arc5 is the usual thing to get 20th level casting.
Level 21 back to Archmage for Bonus Feat, and Epic Spellcasting.
Monk level should be combined with Carmandine Monk to get INT to AC.

I'm sure you already know to max out Spellcraft and Knowledge (Arcana) for Epic goodness, and with Maxed Spellcraft+Maxed INT+Spellcraft Focus Feat (requirement for archmage) there should be very few problems there.

Persistant Spell is your friend. Epic Feat of Persistant Emanation is worth looking into as well.

Improved Spell Capacity is always good, and helps apply high-level metamagic to high level spells.

Combine the Lot.
Caster Level 29 (Assuming no items, racial abilities, or feats to change it)
Matt's Magus: (Feat Progression Only for Wiz5/Inc10/Arc5/Inc+1/Monk1/Inc+8)
1/ Extend Spell
1WizBonus/ Scribe Scroll
3/ Iron Will
5WizBonus/ Empower Spell
6/ Craft Wondrous Item
6Inc1Bonus/ Persistant Spell
9/ Spell Penetration
9Inc2Bonus/ Maximize Spell
12/ Craft Contingent Spell
12Inc2Bonus/ Quicken Spell
15/ Craft Staff
15Inc2Bonus/ Twin Spell
18/ Greater Spell Penetration
Inc11: 21/ Epic Spellcasting
Monk1:22/ Monk Level. Int to AC.
Level: 24/ Improved Spell Capacity (10th Level Slot)
Inc13: 24/ Improved Spell Capacity (11th Level Slot)
Level: 27/ Improved Spell Capacity (12th Level Slot)
Inc16: 27/ Improved Spell Capacity (13th Level Slot)
Level: 30/ Improved Metamagic (-2 to MetaSpell Level Adjustments)
Inc19: 30/ Improved Metamagic (-3 to MetaSpell Level Adjustments)

Quicken: +1, Maximize: +1, Twin: +1, Persistant: +3... Madness!
Instant Metamagic 7/day. You can Persist 9th Level Spells Instantly, or have lovely 9th Level Spells Twinned, Quickened, Empowered and Maximized.

I can't begin to think of the devastation this god could lay.
I don't have my books with me at the moment, but I ca't be far off.
This is not min-maxed - just taking your requirement of low cost metamagic to the end result of a possible 30th Level Build.

Note: There's an Epic PrC in PGtF that is very nice, but I can't remember anything about it except it requires 13th Level Spells. Probably worth a look.
