3rd-level illusion [shadow] spell [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-20-04, 08:41 AM I've just realized there is no 3rd-level illusion spell with the shadow descriptor. At least, not in my books. Now, what does that have to do with anything, you ask? Well, for most people this wouldn't be an issue, but since I want to take Shadowcrafter as early as 6th-level like I had planned in my build (see my other post), I really must find one - it's a requirement for the PrC. Otherwise I'll have to go with shadow adept2 before I can take shadowcrafter.

So, does anybody know of a 3rd-level illusion [shadow] spell? Even Lesser Shadow Tentacle (from Lords of Darkness) is an abjuration spell. Go figure.

03-20-04, 08:53 AM Shadow Cache from Manual Of The Planes is a 3rd level illusion(shadow) spell, you can create a small portal the the shadow plane to stash or deposit some items there or something

03-21-04, 11:53 AM Things would have been different if the prerequisite line had said: "knowledge of at least one 3rd-level illusion spell with the [shadow] descriptor". Then, simply having shadow conjuration in your spellbook, even without being able to cast it yet, would have satisfied.

Alas, I am not even sure Shadow Cache is an illusion spell. From the description Foolosophy gives, it looks like it's a conjuration spell (sorry to doubt you, Fool*). This is mostly why I am looking for an alternative.

* this looks like something a BBEG could say :)
