| TheVatican09-15-06, 06:49 PM | 1) Does anyone know the rules for obtaining a nightmare as a paladin mount? They are similar in stats and CR I believe as a direlion so should we use the DMG rules and take it as per the rules of a direlion? 2) What are the ways in order to get a dragonmount, without having to do a prestige class? Is taking the leadership the only way to do it? 3) If we get a young dragon, how are we ever going to live long enough to have te dragon age another category? human life spans are short. 4) Does a paladin mount grow from, say, being large to huge if he gets the appropriate hit dice from the extra hit dice he gains from being a paladin mount? Thanks for the help. |
| prototype0009-15-06, 06:54 PM | 1) Does anyone know the rules for obtaining a nightmare as a paladin mount? Aren't Nightmare's evil? Night Hag Blackguards ride Nightmares if I recall... Thats a bit of a problem. 3) If we get a young dragon, how are we ever going to live long enough to have te dragon age another category? human life spans are short. Hmm, well, choose a longer lived race? Or maybe a race that doesn't age? Aren't Elans well nigh immortal? 4) Does a paladin mount grow from, say, being large to huge if he gets the appropriate hit dice from the extra hit dice he gains from being a paladin mount? I wish, but nope. prototype00 |
| TheVatican09-15-06, 07:27 PM | I was thinking in terms of a good nightmare ( if we can convince the DM) or as a blackguard or the uneartharcane evil paladin ideas. Just wondering if we would treat them like a direlion in regards to progression. |

Also, the rules for getting a dragon for a mount are in the Draconomicon. |

| Surreal09-16-06, 12:43 AM | Become a blackguard and simply pick up the leadership feat so you have a Nightmare as a cohort. Then it can take class levels as you level up. |
| tsuyoshikentsu09-16-06, 11:44 AM | 1) Does anyone know the rules for obtaining a nightmare as a paladin mount?Uhm, Nightmares are CR5. My best guess wuold be that you'd take it like a high-level animal companion. 2) What are the ways in order to get a dragonmount, without having to do a prestige class? Is taking the leadership the only way to do it? The feat, Dragon Mount. 3) If we get a young dragon, how are we ever going to live long enough to have te dragon age another category? human life spans are short.Be an elf, Elan, or Warforgred. 4) Does a paladin mount grow from, say, being large to huge if he gets the appropriate hit dice from the extra hit dice he gains from being a paladin mount? This varies from DM to DM. Also check with your DM if all the bonus hit dice are D8s or HD appropriate to its kind. |
