| ChudaTogawa02-21-07, 04:25 PM | I'm posting this here for a friend. He solicited my advice on a particular subject, and I thought this forum would be a veritable treasure trove of ideas on what to advise him with. The situation is this: his old DM is having a get together in a bit, and he has decided to place a challenge before his two play groups. Each is a team of five. Build five PCs, as a team. Last team standing wins. The allowed rules are as follows: - Sourcebooks: PHB, PHB II, DMG - 12th level characters - Standard starting gold - No one item can be worth more than 19,000 GP - No spells before battle - Terrain unknown until fight begins - 32 point point-buy for stats One of the PCs is Team Captain. If the Captain is taken down, then the team suffers morale penalties to various things. As such, the Team Captain is both very important, and expecting to take a lot of hate. What five-PC teams would you suggest? |
| Tshern02-21-07, 04:38 PM | No Dragon Magazines even for items? A Druid with Skin of Kaletor would own like hell with that item. Having that said, I'd probably have a team something along these lines: -Druid -Cleric -Some nasty tripper -Wizard -Shadowdancer |
| Novabomb02-21-07, 04:49 PM | Effectively core-psionics Im thinking at least Bard, Wizard, Druid Maybe add in A Barb, and for the last slot...another Druid? 4 Druids, 1 Wiz also sounds good. |
| cool hand luke02-21-07, 05:01 PM | the correct answer is 1. druid 2. druid 3. druid 4. druid 5. druid |
| ChristopherGroves02-21-07, 05:59 PM | Incorrect. The correct answer is druid druid druid cleric wizard |
| Momar02-21-07, 06:03 PM | Also, make one of the druids be the captain and then have the druids all wildshape into the same form. Now put them under cups and shuffle them around. |
| Prominence02-21-07, 06:06 PM | I'd do: Elf wizard Elf wizard Elf wizard Elf wizard Elf wizard or Cleric with Luck Domain You have PHB2 on there, so that's 4-5 people casting celerity+time stop. I'd optimize them for dexterity and initiative - nothing else matters. You might want to throw on a Cleric with Luck domain and a domain that grants time stop or gate. |
| nittanytbone02-21-07, 09:41 PM | How about 5 commoners with feats that boost initiative, maxed out UMD, and some nice nasty magic items? Its a one shot thing, so who cares if you run one of your commoners into the middle of their formation and sell-immolate? Have the team captain chug a potion of invisibility and hide. You could also get a horde of animals (How much does an elephant cost, exactly?) to send after the other guys, too. A stampede of rabid buffalo hurts more than you might think. It would be quite entertaining to win with a team like that. |
| Jaisin02-21-07, 10:55 PM | 1 - Knight w/spiked chain to maximize 'Bulwark of Defense' 2 - Druid 3 - Ranger 12 for ranged combat 4 - Wizard focusing on battlefield control 5 - Bard for inspire courage, or a sorcerer for direct damage |
