| McSplat12-06-05, 06:20 PM | Our DM has made another mod and wants us to start at level 6. I thought it would be pretty cool to have all of the 5 players be rogues. Sneak Attacks all over the place. And I need some help making characters. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. What I have so far is a few Rogue5/Fighter1 - the main damage dealers (wielding two light bludeonging weapons) and a Fighter6 -Wielding a spiked chain and tripping/disarming the opponents. We'd all have magic devices of course for healing and the like. I plan on having everyone use Improved Fient as well. If you have any ideas for me I'd really appreciate it. |

As an aside, I'd had some similar thoughts towards a gestalt party of Rogue//whatevers. Some options you might want to consider could be Rog1/Dr5 for your scouty type rogue/wildshape fiend (possibly heading towards Fochlucan Lyrist?). Maybe one that bases on Paladin for a face-rogue Rog3/Pal3 (with a view towards Skullclan hunter or one of the Nightsong Prc's). I like the idea of a bunch of Rogues cruising around and pwning with multiple SAD, but without any direct spell-casting backup they're likely to have onconsistant results without a nice DM (eg how would they fare against a bunch of zombies or ghouls who're immune to SAD?). |
| aod31812-06-05, 06:48 PM | A level of Cleric opens up sneak attack against Undead. You should have a plan if you run into any constructs. 1 level of Monk and Asetic Rogue is nice. Might want to mix in an Arcane Trickster to deal with walls of force and such. Whoever your main fighter is should pick up some Assassin for the wraithstrike spell. At least one rogue should max out their use magical device to wield wands and staffs. |
| ninjarabbit12-06-05, 06:54 PM | human rogue1/cloisteredcleric5 with able learner for one of your guys so you have divine spells, using only UMD to subsitute for a cleric is usually a fatal mistake |
| DragonMage(xxx)>>>>>12-06-05, 06:57 PM | You could take DarkStalker (Lords of madness) which is always good if youre fighting things that have temoursense or blindsense. You could also be Rogue/Sorceror for spells like golum strike and true strike and darkstalker transformation then you could go into arcane trickster. |
| villianousmorality12-06-05, 07:27 PM | A Rogue 2/Fighter 4 human for ewp spiked chain, combat expertise, Improved trip, dodge, mobility, Combat Reflexes, and spring attack for some battlefield control, might think about rogue 1/fighter 4/swashbuckler 1 instead to get dex to hit. Combined with a Rogue 1/Wizard 5 to lead into arcane trickster, probably a transmuter, who can cast enlarge person and dramatically increase the reach on the first guy. Rogue 6 leading into Nightsong Infiltrator and/or exemplar for a nice skill/trapmonkey. I like the idea of the rogue/cloistered cleric for some healing. And I think another Rogue 6 leading into Nightsong Enforcer would be good. With the first guy having a wide range for battlefield control, the trickster and cleric for magical duty, the other two rogues would do well with twf for lots of sneak attack damage. |
| Bounces12-06-05, 07:29 PM | I think it might have already been said, but someone going into the nightsong infiltrator PrC would really help the rest of the group with all of their teamwork abilities. It would be something to build towards since the skill requirements make it a level 8 entry PrC...but still. |
| AramilWindwalker12-06-05, 09:51 PM | not to mention exemplar later on as well, and have you considered the other roguey/types in complete adventurer? scout, ninja, and spellthief? spelltheif could be the face of the party, and minor arcanist ninja could be the ranged opponenet, disappearing in a flash before unleashing a flurry of shuriken onto the flatfooted enemies scout could be your tracker/nature lover/oppurtunistic atacker or bowman with a rogue as well for that classic feel, and finally the rogue/cleric of olidammara, your healer and another fun lovin rogue guy |
| rilem12-06-05, 10:23 PM | Having everyone use improved feint is a mistake. You need to mix up your styles. Here's a selection 1. Divine: Cloistered Cleric/Rogue is a good option; so is either Rogue2/Cleric3/Church InquisitorX or Rogue2/Archivist4. 2. Bruiser: Half-Orc Wolf Totem Bbn2/Fighter1/Rogue3. Fight with Heavy Flail and improved trip. 3. Face guy: Changeling Rogue6 with substitution levels. 4. Face guy 2: Rilkan rogue6 with substitution levels. 5. Sneak: Radical Taoists' Ultimate Trapscout 6. Trap guy/bruiser: Dwarven Fighter2/Rogue4, leading into Disciple of Dispater 7. Trap guy 2: Dwarven Fighter/Rogue/dungeon delver/exemplar 8. Maneuver guy: Psion/Rogue/fighter/elocator 9. Magic guy: Spellthief6 10. Ranged combatant: Halfing rogue/master thrower |
| ninjarabbit12-06-05, 10:31 PM | A few more ideas: half orc rogue5/barbarian1, darkvision and 40 ft movement are good things for a rogue rogue3/ranger2/assassin1 or rogue5/assassin1 if that's your thing rogue5/monk1 or rogue2/monk1/swashbuckler3 with two weapon fighting for lots of attacks with flurry of blows rogue3/swashbuckler3 |
