Hrm. Would it be possible to run around with a +5 arrow at level 3, instead of a +1 dagger? Seems like a good trade to me. More damage. Lower price. And that's just with +X.

+1 Bane Arrows are cheap. And stab very competitively with a +1 dagger.

Arrows: An arrow used as a melee weapon is treated as a light improvised weapon (–4 penalty on attack rolls) and deals damage as a dagger of its size (critical multiplier x2). Arrows come in a leather quiver that holds 20 arrows. An arrow that hits its target is destroyed; one that misses has a 50% chance of being destroyed or lost.

Nowhere does it say the destroyed condition only applies to arrows used for ranged attacks.

And -4 to hit stinks. Lower crit range as well.

Rats. I seem to recall only /fired/ arrows suffered a miss chance in 3.0.

Drat. Back to the drawing board.

Don't arrows have a tendency to snap when used in melee? Their shafts are just thin sticks of wood, after all.

they'd break real easily. The reason you lose them, is they're basically impossible to remove from someone without breaking the shaft.

i think this trick used to work with shuriken.

an adamantine arrow, or better, aurorum.
But that defeats the purpose, methinks.

Aurorum arrows wouldn't work; the broken part is going to be the wooden shaft. You'll have to use aurorum bolts.

Aurorum shuriken would be an awesome investment for some of these uber-thrower builds! The main problem with those builds is being able to afford enough daggers/etc. If you use daggers, the cost is insane. If you use shuriken, they are destroyed. THIS is the answer! :D

Maybe 100 shurikens of returning.....and a lot of plasters for the blisters on your hands.
