Anyone want to help me make a 50th level character*. I'm thinking 50th level soulknife**. You've got 12 hours ;)

*Apparently my friend has found a 50th level adventure somewhere and since we are down a player for our regular games we get to play it.

** OK, this probably does not count as character /optimisation/ but I've never played epic before and I don't want to get too confused. Besides I like Soulknifes :)

*** In case you are wondering I have access to the PHB, DMG, XPH, most Complete books and Races of the Wild

**** Apologies if 50th is too high, I am aware from my few days lurking here that 20th level characters can already threaten deities.

***** Peace

20 Monk, 10 Cleric, 10 Sorcerer, 10 Mystic Theurge
THe reason Monk goes first is for the saves, after 20th level all saves stop progressing normally (see ELHB or SRD). THe real bonus to all this is really having decent unarmored AC with out Spell failer ALso look at getting epic level spells (the best thing about epic levels really). Spend the skill points needed for the Ignore Material Component feat.

And Monk 20 followed by Sorcerer 10/Cleric 10/Mystic Theurge 10 gets NO Epic Spells.

Making an Epic PC is a lot like making a low level PC. You think you have a lot, but if you aren't focused early on, you aren't able to get the Epic feats you want early enough.

I think the Soulknife would be fun to use, but it has no ability to learn Epic Spells since it has no manifester level. So you can't even take Epic Psionic Focus to use both Greater Psionic Weapon and Deep Impact from one Focus.

I would definately have to recommend that if you really want to use Soulknife, I would limit it to 5 levels to get the Bastard Sword shaped Mindblade. Then I would probably use Psychic Warrior with Illithid Slayer or Psychic Weapon Master.

If you can accept it. I strongly recommend Soulknife 5 after level 20.

For the first 20 levels, Psychic Warrior 4/Fighter 1/Illithid Slayer 10/Warmind 5 would give you a BAB of +19. Fort +13, Ref +8, Will +9

For 21 thru 40. Warmind 6-10, Soulknife 5, Elocator 10 for full Warmind powers, and Psychic Warrior Manifester level of 20. The last 10 levels... You need more Psychic Warrior Manifester levels if you want Epic Manifesting. Plus to boost your Manifester level over 20. Warmind is good for the

So right now, Warmind Powers have a Power Point Cap of 10 and Psychic Warrior Powers are limited to 20. If you don't believe me read page 17 and 18 about multiclassed psionic PCs.

Of course, you could always do Soulknife 50 for a lot of Psychic Strike (+12d8) which you can always convert to fuel Knife to the Soul. But again, you can't take Epic Psionic Focus...

No matter what, Psionic Body feat will give you a lot of hit points.

Hrmmm...

How about Druid 10/Wizard 10/Mystic theurge 10/ arcane heirophant 10/Master of many forms 10?

Arcane and divine spells as caster level 30, wildshape into huge crushy things.

But really... level 50 build? This sounds like a good time to throw in a few templates to me... show up as a Celestial mineral warrrior half-dragon... thatll turn a few heads no dout.

Some sort of high-age catagory Pyroclastic dragon focusing on breath weapon DC's.

I'm not sure how common immunity to disinigration effects is at higher level, but a DC 60+ disinigration (ie "save or die") breath weapons are nice.

DC 64 (10 base + 15 hd (?) + 20 con (?) + 20 heightened + 2 ability focus)

And that's just off the top of my head. Each Lord of Hell would fall in a single blast of that attack.

For level 50 a dc 60 save isn't really all that impressive ^^;

That said try templates. A lot of templates aren't made with epic in mind, and thus are broken just by adding them in (The saint template from book of exalted is one of my favorite examples of this.)

Or you could just try pumping the everliving heck out of epic spells. Go mystic theurge, get 21st level cleric and arcane then progress only arcane. You've doubled your number of epic spells.

Take a destruction seed spell, Set it to deal d20's (I think thats +50) At level 50 I'm going to hope you have max ranks in spellcraft (53) an int mod of about 30-40 (83-93) Epic Skill focus spellcraft (96-106) and at least a +30 item, though hopefully more. (126-166).

Make it a quickened spell for +8 dc. Then add on as much damage as you can. I think it'll start something like dc 70 for 20d20. So add at least 25d20 more. 45d20 minimum. Average damage 450. Save damage, 225. Now add in multispell 8.

Memorize only your boom spell. Then, in one round, deal 225x8 (1800 damage) To any single target. Thats if they make the fort save.

Its not elegant. But it works ^^;

just a little correction to the average damage...45*10.5(average of a D20)=472.5 save for 236 rounding down so assuming they all make their saves 1888 damage...almost 100 more:)

I'd lean toward a Bard 7/Druid 1/Favored Soul 1/Rogue 2/Sublime Chord 1/Nar Demon Binder 1/Divine Champion 1/Fochlucan Lyrist 26. Apply 8 levels of Fochlucan Lyrist to Sublime Chord, 6 levels to Nar Demon Binder, and 12 to Bards. For the divine side, put 17 into Favored Soul, and 9 into Divine Champion. Grab the Improved Spellcaster feat 4 times (once for Nar Demon Binder, 3 times for Bards), and have 5 classes with Epic spells.

You'd only have 3 attacks/round, but... meh. With 53 ranks in Knowledge: Arcana, and 53 ranks in Knowledge: Nature or Knowledge: Religion, you'd have 25 epic spells per day, you can focus exclusively on Charisma, and you'd have a pretty good spell selection the whole way through.

Thanks for all the advice. I went with Fighter 4, Soulknife 46 in the end. I've only just looked at the Warmind and its 5th level ability looks like it kicks some a$$. Is there any source that explains it better or with examples?

Pal11/Fist of Raziel39 (alt FoR37+Saint)
Cast as Pal 20
Smite 23 times per day (plus any extra smite feats)
Take Great Smite 16 times
Smite damage= +850 ([1+16]*50)

add Saint= Lose 1 smite per day, no feats, smite dmg drops to +816

As a FoR, you auto confim threats when smiting, and your smite damage is multilied by crit multiplier.

Ok, actually doing some work, I figured out the save for an average (as in, I don't know what's "good" for level 50) save DC for ECL 50.

DC 90 (10 base + 20 HD + 30 con + 30 heighten).

The con mod is +30 by having a score of 70: 18 roll + 20 racial + 18 item + 5 inherent + 10 level.

I am not sure if a +18 item is too much for a level 50 to afford or not...

All I know that, unless a CR 66 Prismatic dragon (great wyrm) has protection against disinigration (however likely), they need to roll a natural 20 in order to not be disinigrated by that attack.
