| Titan W09-20-06, 12:25 AM | This is a tome of battle optimization designed to grant a perfect 95% hit chance (Only a roll of 1 on a D20 will cause a miss regardless of the opponent) and do maximum damage once you reach mid to late levels (Above the initial build) Be a Halfling for this to be truly optimal, after all it's after accuracy more than power at first. 1st Level Rogue 2nd Level Fighter (Weapon Finesse) 3rd Level Swordsage (Shadow Dragon) (Island of Blades Stance) 4th Level Swordsage (Emerald Razor) 5th Level Swordsage (Cloak of Deception) The general combination here is to use Island of Blades to grant flanking (optional) wile using the Cloak of Deception and Emerald Razor to gain an attack which is most likely a touch attack that is also against a flat footed opponent and with an attack bonus of +3 adding in the flanking +2 and the Weapon Focus you gain from the sworsdage ability (+1) and your Dex mod (Up to +5) and you have a +9 to +11 attack bonus, either of which will only miss AC 10 on a roll of 1. The exception to this is odd AC bonuses which can be negated later by getting a weapon that casts dispel magic on striking (So the second round attack is as close to auto-hit as you can get) also a masterwork weapon is a good choice for this if played from 1st level +2 otherwise. Best Expenditure of money here: Invisibility items, Silence scrolls. Glasses of True Seeing/Arcane Sight Target ability scores: DEX (May want high tumble as well) After that I recommend maxing out rogue levels to capitalize on the flat-footed enemies from your initial attack and deal some high sneak attack dice with the added benefit of possible STR damage and some great out of combat skill selection (So INT and CHA would be good ability secondaries). |
| Zuj09-20-06, 01:10 AM | 1. If you're a halfling like you suggest, you will suffer xp penalties for this build. Human would be best, non? 2. You have "Shadow Dragon" listed at 3rd level. What is this ability? Also, I realize that this build will give you some seriously good bonuses to hit and damage for the first round, but how does it match up after that? I think the "95% chance to hit" claim is a bit of a misnomer, as you haven't accounted for things like uncanny dodge, etc. I would also be curious to see how this matches up to a power-attacking build in damage output. Would you care to elaborate on what kind of damage potential would be possible with this? |

Cloak of Deception only lasts until the end of your turn, and Emerald Razor only allows one attack. After that, you've expended those maneuvers for this combat - and as a swordsage, you need a full-round action to recover each one. And when the enemies' turn comes up, you're no longer invisible ("until end of your turn", not "until start of your next turn"). |
| Animefunkmaster09-20-06, 02:03 AM | Neraph's Charge + Catfolk Pounce is an auto flat footed full round... I am not familiar with tomb of battle (So I am not sure exactly what your sourceing), but I did something similar: Neraph's Charge + Catfolk Pounce + Brilliant Energy... later on I used deep impact (which wasn't great but always hit). The best is useing a Master' Thrower for the touch attack and either greater invisibility, grease, unaware, ect... for the flat footed touch AC. Deflection usually isn't much (Natural armor is when you have a brilliant energy weapon). |
| TheOne09-20-06, 01:52 PM | My current character is a SS2/MartialMonk2/Kensai2/WB2 He attacks at 16/11 or 13/13/9 and between vexing flanker (+4 to attack while flanking), Island of blades with a bard(+1) and a tripper(+4) in the party my attacks are at 25/20 or 22/22/18 with rain of blows. This is more than good enough to hit anything we've encountered so far, even a cadaver collecter (AC 29, CR12) |
