queen's rook 09-11-05, 12:17 AM	'Cheater of Mystra' and the 'Twice Betrayer of Shar' make excellent use of spell casting in an anti-magic field. While not central to either build, both builds capitalize on this seemingly contradictory tactic. I'm interested in realizing character that can likewise exploit this stategy but not be restricted to the Forgotten Realms specific 'Initiate of Mystra' feat. Prismatic Wall operates normally in an AMF. The Seven Veils Initiate is currently a popular prestige class with dedicated casters and a PW specialist. What metamagical shaping would be required to make PW an aggressive spell tactic? Does an Initiate's Prismatic Wall have sufficient punch to be used as an offensive force? What would be an appropriate build (with feat selections) to realize this as an optimized character? Thanks gamers -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An aside, the earlier mentioned 'Cheater' and 'Betrayer'- do they suffer a 50% chance spell failure in AMF?

Spellsword is an interesting out, though. Can anyone think of some metamagic sculpting shickanery that can place to Wall on a target and hold them there?
Caelic 09-11-05, 01:18 AM	True, PI, but the Prismatic Burst ability isn't going to hurt nearly as MUCH as having a Prismatic Wall channeled through a sword and into you. Rook--take a look at the Recaster prestige class from Races of Eberron. I don't recall if wall spells are within the scope of their ability to manipulate areas of effect, but if so, it should be what you're looking for.
queen's rook 09-11-05, 01:27 AM	Thanks, was just looking at Recaster. Essentially allows me metamagic sculpting, turning the Wall's 'line' into a cone or cylinder or whatnot... I'm still suffering from an inablity to summon onto an occupied square. I'm now noticing the Iot7V has personal and area wards based on the layers of Prismatic Wall. Would these wards function normally in an antimagic field? By RAW or RAI, or are we now in the realm of DM houserulings?
Caelic 09-11-05, 01:31 AM	Definitely houserulings. While they're thematically similar, they're not identical. While it would make a certain amount of thematic sense for them to share qualities with Prismatic Sphere, it would be wildly unbalanced to allow them to do so.

Wizard Random 09-11-05, 02:15 AM	Invoke Magic from the Lords of Madness, has wonderful potential to be used. A 5th lvl or lower spell is crazy good and it even works in the AMF because of Invoke Magic.

4Chayva 09-11-05, 11:24 AM	The warding is considered a spell-like ability. You can't use metamagic effects on a (Sp) can you? I would pose the same question for Imbue Arrow as it says spell and not spell-like ability. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
