8th level psion build [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-29-06, 12:20 PM hey there,
so I'm trying to work on a nice "all brain" elan psion build for my monday game. Any ideas? I want to keep him mind powerful and not reliant on psionic items and/or magic items. 8th lvl BTW.

i've been pouring through my book's (nothing official is off limits) and I can't find anything better than straight psion. I am sure this has been covered, but I can't search from my phone!

any thoughts are appreciated!

10-29-06, 12:26 PM I agree that straight psion is as good or better than anything else for many psion character concepts. What exactly are you looking to do? Be a blaster? Buff and fight? Have you checked out the Psion Build Guide (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=624041) and the 3.5 Psionics FAQ (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=638776))? Check the Master Index on the psionics forum for more useful threads.

A link to a psion build that I came up with can be found in my sig (The Toolkit), and the link inside that thread leads to more ideas I had for that character (including a list of forms for Metamorphosis and Metamorphic Transfer).

If your DM lets your psicrystal take feats and uses a 3/4 BAB progression for it, you can buff it into quite an effective combatant, which is something I was thinking of developing a build for, but I haven't gotten around to.

10-29-06, 12:55 PM The group already has a healer, tank, and an all around useful couple of charecters, so blaster or sniper is kind of my direction. That being said, my guy has a REALLY low str, and I don't want to be tied down with much equipment, or rely on items for my power.

I don't think my DM will allow psicrystal feats... is that in the rules somewhere?

DNot explicitly, but it can be inferred from the rules. See the FAQ I linked to for details.
