Great forums you have here! I hope you have some answers to my question or suggestions.

I am creating a 10th lvl arcane caster character that buff the party, and I'm looking into if it would be good with a cohort of some sort. Not for buffing but for neutrelizing the enemies and a more exciting gameplay (Are there any cohorts or familiars that one could get that would buff the party?).

A dragon would be nice, and especially attractive is the Brass dragon with its second breath weapon type (sleep effect), which affects everyone regardless of HD (MM page 79-80). The victims failing their will save fall asleep and become helpless, a perfect target for Coup de Grace. Particularly figther types are targeted, leaving the wizard and cleric types to focus on for 1d6 rounds + 1 round per age category.

With my wizard and the Dragon Cohort feat I can only get a Very Young Brass with a breath DC of 14. The question is: How can this DC be increased or made even more difficult for enemies to succeed on?

Here are the ways I know of that I believe would achieve that effect:

1. Have the dragon take the Meta Breath Heighten Breath feat, then boost its Con with Bear's endurance (Any other spells?). As a very young Brass, it has a CON score of 13, and with a +1 Con magic item (something different than an enchantment bonus. Suggestions? Moral bonus?), and Bear's endurance, its CON sums up to 18, yielding in a DC of 18 (DC14+4). Still, that's not terribly difficult to overcome. As a buffer, say a war weaver, buffing it this way wouldn't be much of a problem, but I have only found a +4 buff to CON so far.

2. Bestow saving throw penalties on the enemies, but I'm more inclined to be a buffer wizard, i.e. wiz/warweaver or wiz/spellguard/some class I cant remember right now...

3. Age the dragon magically or at least increase its age category. I don't know how to and I'm not sure if the dragon would exactly love it if its permanent. Remember that I can only cast 5th level spells at 10th lvl.

Any suggestions? (I have thought about having a dargon as a familiar but I end up casting lots of other spells too on it to buff it up sufficiently, but if you think you have some great ideas then I'm open to suggestions).

And finally, in Draconomicon, all dragons are listed with blindsense, but I can't see that in Monsterous Manual. Is it correc that they DO have blindsense then as Draconomicon was published last (November 2003, while MM was published in July 2003)?

09-23-05, 02:19 PM Yes, dragons have blindsense in 3.5 (not Blindsight, like they had in 3.0). It is in the SRD, and should be in the Monster Manual as well (I don't own the 3.5 one). I'd suggest checking out this build (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=7250821&postcount=231).
