Hey everyody!

One of my upcoming projects is an 18th level campaign. I have been looking a little at the different "Complete" Series, and i find these very amusing. Therefore i was thinking of creating a character whose classes, and Prestige Classes, were derived from these books. Of course, the usual core classes are also available.

Requirements:

I would prefer a race with no LA, though if it really fits the build, i might reconsider.

The stats i can allocate are as follows: 18, 18, 15, 14, 10, 8. These are rolled from dices with the 4D6 mode (I was very, very lucky! :D )
You can add the usual ability bonus every 4th level.

The books which can be used are: All the "Complete" books, All Core Rulesbooks and Races of the Wild. I know that this isn't an awfully long list, but i hope you still have some ideas. ;)

This character has to be fun playing!

If anybody have some effective character builds, within these limitations, please post them. I'm looking for a build who is strong and effective, though still original. Of course, you are always welcome to list "unoriginal" builds, if you think they are fun.

Thanks
Xeraph

Generally speaking, you'll get a lot better response if you explain what you want to play and what you want to do for the group.

Random calls for 18th level characters doesn't work out so well. You might check the Living Greyhawk link below - while the builds stop at 15th level and some of them use material from the Races books, there's a lot of varied builds in there...

Oh yeah, sorry.. I seem to have forgotten mentioning what i wanted to play  I am looking for an arcane caster, and i find the Warlock quite interesting, but he seems to lack power at higher levels. A combination with Warlock, would be interesting, though not extremely needed. Also the Green Star Adept looks interesting, but this is more combat oriented.

Elf Fighter 1/Swashbuckler 5/Dervish 10/Champion of Corellon Larethian 2/Exotic Weapon Master 2.
STR: 18
DEX: 24 (+4 from levels)
CON: 14 (+1 from 4th level)
INT: 14
WIS: 10
CHA: 8

1st) Dodge, Mobility, Exotic Weapon Prof: Elven Courtblade*
2nd) (Weapon Finesse)
3rd) Weapon Expertise
6th) WFocus: Elven Courtblade
9th) Mounted Combat
12th) FEAT
15th) FEAT
18th) FEAT

This allows the Dervish's pile of attacks, along with STR, DEX, and INT to damage on all melee attacks with your Elven Courtblade. Don't forget, it's a THW, so you get 1.5x your STR bonus. :)

*take the Flaw - Shakey. If you can't, you'll have to settle for Fighter 1/Swashbuckler 8/Dervish 9/Champion of CL 2 and miss being Epic ready, as well as the EWM cheese.

Warlock 19/ Mindbender 1 is actually pretty cool as it is.

But what kind of warlock do you want? Blaster? Battlefield control? Mystical weird type?

How about you give us a build we can work on. 1st to 20th level would be nice. Feats, race and equipment.
You do the work and we give our responses so it will end as an effective, fun and strong character... And most of all, the character you want to play.

Cheers.

heres an interesting build I am playing around with.

first start with nine levels of human ranger (archer fighting style)

for feats I went with dragoncrafter and Able Learner at first, rapid shot as my 2nd level ranger type feat. mounted combat at third, and mounted archery at sixth and practiced spellcaster (wizard) at ninth.

for 10th thru 12th level go three levels of wizard
12th level feat should be either aquire familiar (to make your familiar a 12th level familiar) or dragonfriend, or draconic cohort.

now go two levels of mystic theurge, beefing up your practical ranger spells at the cost of a feat is worthwhile.

at 15th level, you should start eldritch knight and keep going well into your epic levels.

as you go you have a huge amount of skill points and ways you can spend them, since I went with dragoncrafter early on you should pick up 5 skill ranks in craft: weaponsithing, leatherworker and alchemy, and 5 ranks in proffesion: dragoncrafter and dragonrider.
the skills you willwant a metric ton of skill ranks in are craft: boyer/fletcher, armorer, ride, diplomacy and survival.

picking up five ranks in a host of knowledges provides you with wonderful synergy bonuses, but knowledge: nobility, nature, dungen and arcana are especially valueble.

this build allows for a character that is universally useful, capable of usefull ranger spells, and wizard magic of up to 5th level spells, not to mention a host of usefull skills, the dragoncrafter feat and the host of craft skills allow you something to do in the intervals between adventures, and the craft weapons and armor feat can come in very handy at higher levels.

I will work it out, and probably post it soon.

PS: Why the level of Mindbender at level 20? you gain telepathy, but you lose the energy resistance and the final improvement in Eldritch Blast.

You do lose a little energy resistance, but you do not lose EB. Mindbender increases casting so your cool there.

Many agree that Telepathy 100ft is far better than an extra 5 points of energy resistance so I suggested it.

A single dip in Dragonslayer is good, though you need to waste two feats dodge and iron will, you gain immunity to fear.

Ok. I must idmit that i can't "perfectly" understand the rules with the PrC "+1 level of existing spellcasting class" and how it interacts with the EB. I might just have to read it a little more thoroughly.

Well, it basically improves both your EB and you Invocation progression, along with increased Invocation power (least, lesser, greater, dark).

The tricky part about Warlock is the Requirement bit. Here you have to find something like "Caster level this" or "Able to cast that spell" or where theres no qualification at all (Dragonslayer).

The chart in the Prestige Class Table, the +1 increases caster level, or +1 arcane caster level, or +1 level is good. Divine is not.

This has been discussed many times, what do WotC really mean? Im sure people will tell me that im wrong in a minute. :P

(In my own campaigns i simple compare the Warlock to a Wizard of same level and check with the Wizards spell. Able to cast 3rd level spells? Thats a 5th level Wizard so a 5th level Warlock works aswell (Taking all feat and skill requirement into consideration aswell ofcourse). )
