Perhaps it is a bit pompus of me to think anyone here would care, but I'm just letting everyone know my activity on the boards will be nigh inexistent over the next 12 days; I'm getting married on Saturday, and will then be gone on my honeymoon. ;)

PS - Wizo's, feel free to lock or delete the thread; I know it's off-topic.

(Announcements like this can easily go in your sig, too -- as can links to wedding pictures.)

There's probably a cupid/archer joke in here, but I'm too tired to think of one.

We could stay on-topic and help you optimize your wedding? :PYeah, help me figure out a way to inflict a zone of silence on the Bride's grandmother - the woman is insane.

It won't bother us, we communicate through sign language anyway (my bride is deaf).

Well, okay. I could survive with it, but I would much rather hear what is going on; you are right there.

high diplomacy rolls are easy, just say "yes dear" whenever she wants something.

That only works if you also have an excellent Reflex save.

Congratulations, KSB. May you both find lasting happiness in the marriage.

And how do you plan on optimizing your honeymoon?

I suggest taking endurance and toughness as soon as possible.

First thing first.. put on your robe and wizard hat. Cast level 3 eroticism...

but I digress.

Mazal tov!

By the way, if you're getting married, put some ranks into diplomacy, and get a good reflex save, cuz you're gonna need it.

And how do you plan on optimizing your honeymoon?

I suggest taking endurance and toughness as soon as possible.Endurance would be good, as we are braving the summer heat of North Carolina, and staying in a cabin in the mountains. Although, when we got engaged we were travelling afar to the very arid island of Curacao - does that mean I've got the Desert Terrain Mastery of Horizon Walker, and am thus immune to fatigue? We'll find out Saturday night :schemes:

We'll be gaining a few ranks in Knowledge: "History" as we tour the park where they filmed the last 15 minutes of Last of the Mohicans (my favorite movie of all time). I'll try to post some pics afterward.

And now I must go pack for the weekend, and drive 3 hours north to her home town.

Because I feel like procrastinating on my packing for a bit, here is a quick build for my person:

Human Scout 3/Bard 2/Ranger 3/Horizon Walker 1(?)

1 - Scout
2 - Scout
3 - Bard
4 - Ranger
5 - Ranger - TWF
6 - Scout
7 - Ranger
8 - Bard

I've got near max ranks in Knowledge (Nature) (10), as well as a good smattering of Craft (Alchemy) (6), Knowledge (History) (6), Perform (Singing) (5), and with that last bard level I picked up Speak Language (Drow Sign Language). Still not sure what all my feats are.

Wow, I'm a nerd.

Congrats.

Don't overlook the usefullness of bluff. Also, calm emotions is a must, as most wives have frenzy. A staff of life is handy, and nothing will get you through those tough days like a good old fashioned dwarven brewmaker ;)

Good luck man, and have a happy honeymoon.

congratulations.........ksbsnowowl...... ..

just a little advice...."Listen to her with your eyes while you keep your hands(and mouth shut)..even when you dont agree....at least you will dignify her thoughts....and think(even a short while) before you respond"

this will not eliminate problems and Dissagreements....but will reduce some of the negative consequences of lack of thought...and she will feel you are at least listening to her opinions(a major thing for any person)

have fun, and be peaceful

Congratulation, KSB. I'm minded of a journal entry I once wrote when I was at the height of my adventuring career. It should be read with a Scottish burr:

"Thar she stood, straight out of a child's nightmare, the Terror of Strakheln in the flesh; two-hundred pounds of corded steel; a scowl on her face to make a grown man tremble! And there I stood, frozen, willin' me legs to move, to carry me back the way I'd come. But then her gaze fell upon me; her face split into hideous leer as ,slowly, she began to pace towards me. The smell of her breath rollin' over me in waves at last jolted me from my stupor. I turned to run, but then her hands fell upon me, bearin' me down to the ground where I lay helpless as she proceeded to have her way with me!

I shudder to think on it even now, and that was just the night of our weddin'!"

Congrats! Just remember D&D Honeymoon Rule #127: It's not proper Honeymoon Etiquette to bring the Core Rulebooks along, hoping to get enough hotel staff together for a spur-of-the-moment session of D&D.
