Im making a melee Minotaur for an upcoming game. He will have a max int of 8 and a starting strength of 22.

Any suggestions for PrC's that may fit with the full strength over brain concept?

I was thinking that maybe barbarian 5/fighter 4 then a PrC.

FR allowed?

go with wolf berserker and improved trip. no need for intelligence there and your high str will shine, see my go for trip-thread for other infos.

Where is the wolf beserker found?

I do like the war hulk PrC but I think it may be a tad overpowred.

A PrC granting a +10 or something like that to strength seems over the top but perhaps Im mistaken?

You don't get much more brawn over brains than the War Hulk prestige class out of the Miniatures Handbook.

Wolf Berserker is out of Unapproachable East by the way.

war hulk has NO bab advancement, iirc
ie you'll hit your opponent twice, and you hit them real good :) and they'll hurt.

Ahh, thats what balances it out. i didnt even notice the lack of BAB.

Wolf Berserker is in Unapproachable East.

You have to be a member of the Wolf berserker lodge, which is a unique feature of the Rasheman region of the Forgotten Realms. Lots of barbarian/berserker types in Rasheman.

If your DM does not require any campaign specific requirements such as the lodge/region bit, then the only prerequsite is being able to rage.

Doesn't Improved Trip require combat expertise and INT 13?

Just my $1/50

No base attack bonus isn't actually too bad if you center your character around a hit and run style actually. It doesn't go with the name for the class, but it's uniquely suited towards a build centered around Spring Attacking and Attacks of Opportunity.

wow, dude, your opinion is kind of expensive, i get only two cents most of the time

wolf berserker let you chose improved trip without fullfilling other prerequisites.
and gives you a further +4 to trip.

Hammerhand, unapproachable east is one of the best books imo, if you play in the realms or allow FR-stuff put it on your chrismas-wishlist or something.

i like to play holy liberators, but in my opinion the BoED was too full of lawful paladin-stuff to top the cool PrCs in UE. and since i like barbarians better then dragons (only as a player, not as a DM...) UE is the top-buy :)

Man, don't pick up War Hulk at all if your DM allows any sort of polymorphing in your campaign.

A drunken master has a really good chance at making a War Hulk cry like a little boy in a grapple; a polymorphed drunken master would tie a War Hulk in a knot.

Since the War Hulk doesn't provide any BAB but also stacks really poorly with polymorphing, I just don't know.

Similarly, you could also just pick up 8 paladin levels or 3 clerics levels and cast 'Curse of the Brute'.

I do play alot in FR.

So a Wolf barbarian allows you to take the improved trip feat without the requirements. Is it like a barbarian except it allows me to get this feat?

Im thinking a Orc with the half-ogre template from the latest dragon is the race I will take with a 40 point buy.

I would like to have the improved trip feat. Perhaps a lvl 4 fighter/ lvl 1 LA for half-ogre template/then perhaps just go barbarian for the remaining lvls.

Stats at lvl 2 would be as follows (lvl 1 barb, +1 la)
str 26 dex 14 con 18 int 8 wis 12 cha 8

A war hulk minotaur can get to (18+8+20+5=) 47 strength before magical bonuses. The closest monster in the book is the great wyrm gold dragon at 47 strength. But you pack it into a large frame instead of a collosal one (without needing alter self).

Minotaur isn't even the strongest starter for war hulk...

Other useful war hulk abilities are thrown rocks (which use your strength modifier to hit, not dex), and the ability to hit all of your opponents with every swing, both abilities that polymorph chains cannot give you.

If you're going with minotaur, I'd suggest picking up 2 levels of monk in your build somewhere. The key to war hulk is to get as many swings as you possibly can. A monk will give you an extra flurry attack AND allow you to use your FULL damage bonus on every unarmed or monk-weapon attack, putting you at a base attack progression of 8/8/3/3. Add in your +18 to hit from strength, and you're making a mess of everyone within reach.

Power lunge and awesome blow are great additions to the build. Get combat reflexes and improved grapple from the monk levels.

if you do alot of charging power lunge might also be useful. that lets you add double your strength mod to damage.

According to the MM rules for size increment, Half-Minotaur grants +12 Str instead of just +4. You probably won't find a DM who would allow that though ;)

its wolf berserker, and thats the name of the feat.
you have to be a member of the wolf berserker lodge. to enter a lodge you must be able to rage.

berserker lodges are communities of barbarians that have a supporting role in society in rashemen, they protect and help the witches that rule over there.

combined with half-ogre you will have a real strong character, with a potion of enlarge you can beat +20 to trip within the first few levels, nothing below CR10-15 that can stand against you.

just remember: if you get an AoO because of your enemy standing up from prone: do a trip attack :)

get some chain, combat reflexes, large and in charge, wolf berserker, improved trip and continue along this line.

Ok, I know what the improved trip feat does but what exactly does the wolf beserker feat do?

Besides for role playing, does the wolf beserker feat do anything besides allowing a charachter to gain the improved trip without the prerequisites?

Also the large and in charge feat, how exactly does it work. If I have a huge spiked chain (for a half ogre) and a guy comes to me and I hit him with the AoO I push him back to where? After I push him back do I get another AoO when he attacks again?

Also if I like to do the attacking would I be better off just going the charge route and skip the large and in charge feat?

this and gaining another +4 to trip

try this at the approbiate board.

as i understand it you stop the enemies movement, otherwise it would be kind of pointless.

its just nice to have. attacking others is cool, but not being attacked by them is even greater.

Funny, what do you think about a lvl 6 fighter/lvl 5 barbarian/lvl 9 war hulk? This would give me two rages, weapon spec. and 3 attacks.

I don't think War Hulk is worth taking.

Bear with me.

I think that at pre-epic levels, it's best to get your BAB as close to 20 as possible to capitalize on iterative attacks.

Also, Mighty swing I believe only attacks 5 feet around you, not all the squares you threaten. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Thus, you have more to gain if you're going a spiked Chain RSB by getting psycho Dex (In other words, buffing Dex really high) and taking feats like Large and in Charge, Hold the Line and Combat Reflexes.

Your reach weapon and huge size allows you to threaten huge amounts of squares (Even more if you take a spiked chain that is a size too large, and then having the 'Balanced' weapon enhancement on it). Since you're covering so much ground, enemies will be forced to enter your threatened area, and you punish them for it.

It's also a rather good way of breaking up ranks of men if you can ever get your mitts on a way to increase your int up to 13 and getting Whirlwind Attack. The last time I checked, you could attack over 160 squares with a Whirlwind, tripping everyone you hit. Much better at breaking up a battleline than a War Hulk.

At most, I'd take 4 levels of War Hulk in a build, and only if all my other class levels got +1 BAB. 4 attacks is much better than 3, and War Hulk is much better when taken during Epic levels (no loss of BAB).

i agree with dead eye, in my opinion war hulk is not worth it in pre-epic levels.

anyhow, since you wanted to hear my opinion:
i dont like war hulk in general, even my most brutal fighters had some skillpoints distributed in areas that a war hulf would not cover.

getting one as a cohort may be something different, but i dont think i would ever play one.

I think one dollar divided by 50 would be approximately 2 cents. I could be wrong, but I think that is what $1/50 means.
