Khelendross 07-23-06, 03:14 PM	Hello fellow Gamers! In all my gaming exp I've always played a heavy defensive class or highly offensive. My character a paladin died in the last game session blocking a blast from a dominated rouge in our group with a ready action. He had a feat called spellfire at full charge on the group cleric and I used my action to jump in the way and failed my saving thow with a natrual 1 :-) Happens but sucks cause I loved the character. Had a huge background for him and worked him up from 1-7 in the Shackled City book we are running out of. Btw, a great book! Anyways in lue of the new post wizards put out on, Singers and Spell Slingers, I want to play a bard cause it's something I've never done and the group could use more utility. I want to be a little more powerful than the average bard and this is what I want. I want to be a singer/speaker and I want to be able to effect undead and elementals etc. I know this might be hard cause those are immune to mind effects but maybe some of you know feats or prestige classes. It's any 3.5 book and only up to a +1 level adjustment. In the group now we have a Barb, Rouge, Cleric, Fighter/sorc, Psion, Artificer, Battle Druid, and me now a Bard. I would appricate any advice and or builds you post for me. If it is possible post where you got the feats and classes from etc so I can provide to my DM. Again Thank you.
androcles 07-23-06, 03:22 PM	what books do you have? if you have access to frostburn there is the PrC stormsinger (i think thats what its called at least) that gets the ability to use bardic music to do damage equal to your perform check. if you combine that with a dip in exemplar so you can take 10 on the check.
Stickboy2323 07-23-06, 06:03 PM	The feat Requiem from Libris Mortis will let your bardic Music effect undead but can't be taken until 6th level.
Khelendross 07-23-06, 07:07 PM	Between a gaming group of 8 and a DM we have every 3.5 D&D book and most 3.0. So we have frostburn and I'm making the character level 7 unless I take a level adjustment. Any more ideas both of those are good.
Stickboy2323 07-24-06, 03:51 AM	It sounds to me like you're looking to be more of a combat bard, so... ...try something like this: Human - Bard 1-6, Warchanter 7-16, Sublime Chord 17-20 Feats 1 - Weapon Finesse, H - Weapon Focus 3 - Combat Expertise 6 - Requiem 9 - Snowflake Wardance 12 - X 15 - X 18 - X You should have 18 daily uses of badic music, 6th lv spells and a +16 BAB by 20th lv. Make sure you're using a slashing weapon so that you can use the snowflake wardancer feat for CHA to hit in melee combat. SW will fatigue you so get Armor of the Unending Hunt from CW. Hope this helps.
Caelic 07-24-06, 10:20 AM	That build won't fly, Stickboy. Warchanter doesn't add to your spellcasting progression, and 6 levels of bard isn't enough to qualify for Sublime Chord. Here's a build I quite like: Bard 7/Druid 1/Master Thrower 2/Sublime Chord 1/Fochlucan Lyrist 6 This is subject to tweaking, but gives you a BAB of +16, the bardic music of a 16th level bard, 9th level arcane spells, and minor druidic spellcasting to boot.
Stickboy2323 07-24-06, 10:56 AM	You're right Caelic. I typed in the build right before going to bed last night without looking at the Bard spellcasting progression and messed up. But it's easily solved by taking another Bard level either before, during or after the Warchanter levels are added. All the benefits I listed beforre should remain unchanged. I think.

Druid 1 is so that he gets 2 things: 1) Druidic Language, to qualify for Fochlucan Lyrist 2) Divine spellcasting which can be advanced by Fochlucan Lyrist. Master Thrower 2 is for 2 things: 1) Evasion, so that he can qualify for Fochlucan Lyrist 2) A good offensive ability with thrower tricks. Best, David
