I need a new character.

My two are not so great - you can find them in my sig.

I want one that will destroy all comers. I have some limitations I have to work in - I will leave you to review.

If you read them, you'd know that you're going to get flamed for a) not providing ANY information, and b) expecting everyone to do all the work for you.

If I were going to go to the trouble of reading all those rules, deciding what I think the strongest character would be, and making it... why wouldn't I just post it there for myself? :P

Do not feed the trolls. Let's all move on, please.

yum, and I am not a troll - Im a half troll.

I will "follow through" silly member. Just participate with me, and I'll keep talking.

Yes, PhaedrusXY, I am playing that kind of game it is that kind of challenge but I would also like to start a discussion - outside of the coco, about the coco.

And, me - (very bad at optimization, ref: my characters) would like a build recommended by the best "COPs" in the room. Perhaps I could have said "request" but as I did say - "Im a half troll" ;)

I mean seriously PheonixInferno - saying "don't feed the trolls" is trolling in and of itself.
"Brother!" hehe,
what do you take me/book5 for? A noob?

Regardless of saying this is a "request" or a "challenge" unless you do at least SOME of the work...you're not going to get anything from most of the people on these boards. Just coming in and asking for "a powerful build because mine suck" doesn't get you real far. The name of the game is making a build for yourself, and then asking for advice/critique.

Cmon, oh Mighty one!

I have two examples of a light-warrior - dex/wis strong (psi warrior, monk, mind blade) concept, and a Bard/Fighter w/weapon finesse. Now, sure, you could imrpove on one of those two builds, but really.

I figure you guys talk about this all day. You could probably offhandidly list off a half a dozen builds that really really rocked that you have seen lately.

Not every class is made for arena combat. Some builds are great support characters, but the coco is all one on one character class face offs, most fights lasting about 8-12 rounds if not less.

Furthermore - were only talking about the classes and PrCs in the core books.

you want pun-pun
Aegeu

"Destroy all comers"?
No such thing. Any build short of Pun-Pun, the hulking hurler, or other such gods of optimization has a weakness. Heck, even Pun-Pun is looking shaky.
Anyway, let's see if I can flesh out your request more. You said that you had two "finesse" fighters available, and you wanted to keep the concept similar. I'd reccomend a Swashbuckler to start, with scout and ranger thrown in to make a fast-moving blender. Eventually add tempest/dervish. Ten-foot tumbles, spring attack, and dervish dance all will enhance your skirmishing.

All you really need to do is to post the optimization constraints and it would be fine. We're not gonna look through the hundreds of pages of coliseum stuff so that we know exactly what you are looking for.

Anyway, 3 levels (or was it 4?) in very restricted classes is pretty tough to optimize. Dex fighter is generally just begging to die at early levels in PvP, it really is no match for a straight strength guy. You're best bet is to go with 1. An archer, 2. A charger or 3. A caster.

Narrow that down and then maybe we can help ya out.

OK, pertinant info

90% of battles will be against other core classes.

The majority of battles last 8-10 rounds (unless it turns into a shootout which can last 50-100 rounds sometimes).

Recently some of the UA (Alt Levels, Elemental Races Varients, Paragon, and Bloodlines) were added to the options (they are open source and available at the Dynamic SRD site (www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html)) so thats something to consider.

I understand that "take all comers" is a little over the acceptable requests.. but thats what I am looking for.

Now, bob.. won;t work, and the soul seed thing wont work either (understandably that is a dissalowed spell, that and gate). What I am looking for is

A: Damage output quickly
B: I like quick characters - but I am not married to that idea.
C: Shawbuckler / Tempest - is not part of the SRD unfortunatly.

1. Arcane Archer
2. Arcane Trickster
3. Archmage
4. Assassin
5. Blackguard
6. Dragon Disciple
7. Duelist
8. Dwarven Defender
9. Eldritch Knight
10. Hierophant
11. Horizon Walker
12. Loremaster
13. Mystic Theurge
14. Shadowdancer
15. Thaumaturgist
and
Cerebremancer
Elocater
Psionic Fist
Slayer
Metamind
Psion Uncarnate
Pyrokineticist
Thrallherd
War Mind
are the prestige options I have
then again there is the starting level of 3.
the assumed max level of 15 (above 15 the levels lauges are frozen right now).

Now, Kobald Barbarian.. is that a serious suggestion? or another BOB?

Who is this Pun-Pun? Everyone referes to him... and I don't see an actual character. I mean I see alot of discussion of Pun Pun ... and I still have no clue what the hell "it" is.

Link? hmmm will Pun Pun Actually Qualify - do you need Any Ferune Powers/Ability/Items?

Why don't you at least make an effort to narrow down an idea/starting class, stats, and a few feats. I doubt anyone here will go out of their way to build you an entire character. Did you read the posting guidelines?

Book5, there should be plenty of inspiration for you in the "Characters of Gladius" (http://community.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=359951) thread. Just take a look at which gladiators have had successful records and use those as a starting point.

Some observations:
-Clerics with the Magic domain are popular. The two most popular types of wands in the Core Coliseum are the wand of Cure Light Wounds and the wand of Magic Missiles; just having those two wands at your disposal means that you'll be tough to stop at low levels.
-Having a light warhorse is popular. It's about the best CR1 creature that you can bring in; Small air elemental allies are the second most popular, it seems. [In the Core Coliseum, you can sometimes bring in an ally as long as its CR is no greater than min(ECL-4,1).]
-Kineticists can be good; the DC of Energy Missile scales up quite quickly and Control Body can be a very effective "save or die" spell vs. humanoid-shaped opponents.
-Druids are popular since they can bring in their animal companion; note that wild shape is _not_ very popular since it precludes the use of scrolls, potions, wands and other items.

Good luck designing your next gladiator!

This thread is in the wrong forum. It needs to go here:

http://boards.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=330

I flagged this thread for the Wiz_O to move it to the appropriate forum.

And no, the OP is not related to me, even though our forum names are similar. :D

I could see a case for the actual build belonging in either this board or the Op Challenge board, but I strongly recommend that the original poster repost the question with the guidelines already suggested here himself. There is so little information given, it is not worth it to move the thread. Instead, there will be more success if the OP draws up a skeleton at least of the character and makes a new thread.
