A character with no character levels [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-10-04, 01:26 PM I'm trying to find a way to create a character without actually taking any character levels for the first little while. Using unearthed arcana.

I initially thought of a 1/2 ogre which my DM was going to make paragon lvls for in both 1/2 ogre and ogre. The problem occurred when I added 3 lvls of Storm giant Blood. Problem being that at 11th lvl (My DM ruled that a 1/2 ogre is ELC2) it would only have 6d8 hps, bab of +6 and access to the great club and javalin.

I still want to try it but I'm not sure what would work. I'm now thinking maybe half orc for the half orc paragon, then orc paragon and then I need an appropriate blood line.

I'm looking for ideas for a character which could get away with this. Anyone have any ideas on how to make a good character out of a character with no character classes.

04-10-04, 02:10 PM How about a halfelf taking the half dragon monstrou progression, and then a bloodline of some sort? That would give you 3 levels of half elf paragon, 3 of elf or human paragon, 3 for half dragon, 3 for half dragon paragon, and 3 for bloodline. Take 1 level of sorcerer (so paragon casting levels can apply) and 4 levels of something else. You are not going to be very strong, however.

04-10-04, 11:04 PM You see thats the problem. I'm looking for one that will not be terribly weak. Something that can get away with it and thats why I'm think possibly half orc with carefull selection of a bloodline. I'm just not too sure on how to make it all work.

04-10-04, 11:11 PM Character levels are racial HD + Class levels. All characters have at least one character level.

That said, if you want to play a powerful character without taking *class* levels, let me direct you to the Ghaele.

04-13-04, 01:06 AM Why not look at Calamari(sp?) in this case Mind Flayer (Illithid) a wopping 8hd with 15ecl very powerfull and very feared.

or if you want the whole template thing go full Ogre, half dragon, half elemental,half deamon, no HD to speak of but nice and powerful.
